"Dr. Kapoor? Dr. Sarvesh ne aapko ye handover krne ko kaha hai aur aapko milne ke liye bulaya hai."

One of the fellow doctors informed Shiv who was ok his rounds. Dr. Sarvesh was the seniormost doctor in the hospital where he worked.

"Thank you."

He thanked the doctor and took the file. He opened it to see what it was. It was the details of the medical aid camp for the year.

Every year, their hospital, in collaboration with 4 other big hospitals in the country organised a medical aid camp in the rural areas. It was a month long camp where they put up camps in 4 different villages in the country.

Every year one doctor was selected as the head of the entire camp. The one responsible and accountable for everything.

Shiv frowned. Why was the file being given to him? Was he being made the head this year? He quickly walked towards Dr. Sarvesh's cabin and entered after taking his permission.

"Good morning Dr."

He greeted and the Dr. reciprocated his greeting with a smile.

"I suppose you've received the details of the camp this year. This year, our hospital was given the opportunity again to head the entire camp and I've decided to assign you as that head. I hope I will not be disappointed Dr."

He said with a teasing smile and Shiv smiled wide.

"Definitely not Dr. I'll give my 1000%. Thank you so much for the opportunity."

"All the best young man. You are free to select your team of doctors. I think you should start preparing."

Shiv nodded and took his leave. He entered the washroom and after making sure that it was empty, he fist bumped the air and jumped in happiness.

"Yes! Yes yes yes! I did it! You have to prove yourself to be worthy and capable Shiv. Puri responsibility tere upar hai ab. You can do it."

The camp was a big thing. The top 5 hospitals of India came together to host it. It was a great way to make connections and reputation in the field of medicine.

Shiv had been waiting for this opportunity since three years now and finally he was been given the opportunity. He wasn't going to let it go waste.

He wasn't aware that the camp was going to change his life forever. For good.

The day of arrival into the first village came sooner than Shiv had anticipated. The banners and advertisements were done to make the people living there aware of the same.

Even forms for volunteering were circulated. People from the village who were willing to be a part of the camp could join and learn.

Shiv and their team of doctors from all the hospitals reached the village. They had five buses coming in from each hospital.

They started setting up the camp.

"Volunteers kaha hai? Aaye nhi abhi tak?"

Shiv asked the doctor who was in charge of the collection of volunteer data.

"I'll see doctor."

He went to check about and Shiv got busy in the camp preparation.

On the other hand, Tara came out of her room wearing a simple kurti with denim jeans. She had her dupatta around her neck like a scarf.

"Maa! Baba! Jaa rhi hu mai."

She called excitedly. Today was the first day of the medical camp and she was volunteering too. Her baba who was having his morning tea while reading the local newspaper looked up from the paper and asked.

"Kaha jaana hai?"

"Offo baba! Bhul jaate hai aap. Bataya tha na. Camp lag raha hai gaao mai. Maine volunteer kia hai. Aap bhi aana waha."

"Arre bhai! Achhe khase baap ko keh rhi ho ki medical camp aana."

He teased and she huffed.

"Dawai lene nhi aana. Lekin aapki beti kitni mehnat se logo ki madad kr rhi hai wo dekhne toh aa skte hai na sarpanch ji."

She teased back. Her father was the head of the village.

"Jee chhoti doctorni. Jaaiye ab."

She giggled and ran out of the house. She went to her friends' houses first.

"Sonu! Chintu! Chalo bhai! Der ho jaayegi. Doctors aa gye hai."

She called her friends who also had volunteered with her.

"Haan chalo chalo!"

All four of them rushed to the place where the camp was being set up.

Shiv saw the three of them approach with wide smiles on their faces and frowned. Where they volunteers? They didn't look like patients.

"Yes?"

He asked. The girl, Tara spoke.

"Good morning Doctor. Humne volunteer kia hai. Mera naam hai Tara. Ye hai Sonu. Aur ye hai Chintu."

She introduced all three of them and grinned at him. Shiv nodded and looked at Tara for a second longer. He was aware about the backward thinking in villages. And she was the only female volunteer they had from this village.

"Baaki volunteers bhi aa gaye hai. You guys also come quickly. Help krdo set up krne mai."

All them got to work. Shiv sent the team of doctors who came from too far, to take some rest. He divided the teams into two. Day shift and night shift.

The doctors for the night shift were sent for rest. Even the volunteers were divided into day and night. Tara being the only girl was kept in the day shift.

The first day went by smooth. It was time for the night shift doctors to come up and so Shiv and the other doctors took a break for the night.

Tara being the sarpanch's daughter took responsibility of checking them in into their hotel.
