Advaith had been thinking of retesting whether what happened that day was a fluke or he really didn't get any reaction when he touched her.
Two days later he got another chance when she was sleeping. With trembling hands he traced his finger down her arm. No reaction.
He intertwined their fingers for a minute and then pulled back to examine his hand. Completely fine.
Tears of happiness formed in his eyes and he cupped her face kissing her forehead. She stirred a little and he went back to his room not wanting to scare her with the newfound information.
He sat in his room smiling in disbelief. He could touch her. He could touch his Alisha without any problem. He thanked his God for giving him this one ultimate happiness.
After coming down from his euphoria, he got out of his room to sneak into the kitchen when he saw Alisha cooking.
He tiptoed and quietly stood behind her.
“Boo!”
He whispered in her ear and she shrieked jumping in shock.
“You scared me!”
She hit his chest and then rested her head against it and giggled. He chuckled and put his hands on her waist taking her by surprise. She looked at him and he slid his hands around her waist sending shivers down her spine.
He snaked his arms around her and pulled her in making her gasp.
“Advaith?”
“Relax! I'm not touching your skin.”
He said. ‘Although I can do that too.’ This was also what he wanted to add but refrained as to not scare her.
“Your eyes!”
She spoke after some time. He frowned but his smile didn't waver.
“What? What about them?”
“They're shining. You look so happy Advaith.
She said it as if in awe. As if his happiness made her happy and giddy too. If possible, his smile broadened.
“You make me happy Alisha. Honestly, before you I don't even remember laughing after that incident. But you make me so so happy. You make me feel normal. Like I am no different from every other person. You're -I-”
He sighed not being able to put his emotions into words. She continued to gaze into his eyes with a lot of emotions.
“I love you Alisha.”
“I love you Advaith.”
They whispered at the same time and smiled. She rested her head on his chest and he tightened his hold on her.
Almost two weeks later, they were visited by Advaith's mother.
“Hello! How are you sweetheart?”
She hugged Alisha, making her smile. She had always got motherly vibes from this lady.
“I'm good. Aap kaise ho?”
“Oh I'm beautiful as always.”
She commented making both of them laugh.
“Achha I'm in a bit of a hurry. Advaith kaha hai?”
“Umm-I think he's in his room.”
The lady nodded and went towards his room while Alisha went back to the kitchen to make lunch.
Mrs. Malhotra knocked on Advaith's door which was locked from inside and heard his voice.
“Give me two minutes babe! I'm changing.”
That made her raise her eyebrow and look back towards the kitchen where Alisha cooked a meal unaware of the giveaway Advaith had done.
She looked back at the door and smiled. Happy to see that he was opening up to someone. Advaith opened the door with a grin only for it to fade to a moment until he composed himself.
“Mumma? Aap kab aaye?”
“Just abhi. Neeche aao kuch baat krni hai.”
Advaith nodded and followed and Alisha came out with water and fruits for her. Mrs. Malhotra thanked her and a teasing smile took place on her lips.
“Waise I'm happy to see that you both are on nickname basis now.”
Alisha was confused and looked at Advaith who shrugged.
“Umm-kaisa nickname mam? I still call him Advaith.”
“Bur Advaith has a nickname for you. He called you babe.”
Advaith choked on his own spit and Alisha looked at him wide eyed before lowering her head in embarrassment. His mother laughed at their reactions.
“Achha chalo I'll not tease you both more. But I'll wait for you to tell me yourself if something is going on. Ab mai yaha jis kaam ke liye aayi thi wo baat kr lete hai. Here you go Advaith.”
She put a file in front of him making him frown.
“What's this?”
“Your father has decided to name the business officially on your name. And you've earned it Advaith. He was so happy while making these papers.”
His mother had tears in her eyes. Tears of happiness. Advaith felt his throat constrict with emotions. Until now, he was working as a person under his father's instructions. The work was his but it was his father's name. But now, people will see him behind every action.
“Papa kyu nhi aaye?”
He asked and his mother smiled.
“You know his health after COVID. He's fine but still vulnerable to infections. Visit him sometime. He'll like it. You're also welcome Alisha.”
Alisha nodded with a smile not knowing what else to say and the lady took her leave.
“I'm so happy for you Advaith.”
She whispered as soon as his mother left and kissed his bicep. He smiled and blinked his tears away.
She stayed in his embrace for some time before remembering his actions before his mother. She pushed him away softly and gave him a glare.
“You called me babe in front of your mother? Are you mad? Embarrass kr dia mujhe. I am not talking to you. Jaao yaha se.”
She feigned an angry look and started going away with a mischievous smile when he held her hand to pull her back.
“Arre mujhe kya-”
“Advaith! What are you doing? Oh my God! Where're your tablets?”
