"Leave my leg."

She cried in pain but he didn't let it go.

"How did it happen?"

She glared at him and he looked at her in realisation.

"Please don't tell you fell on the stairs or something?"

She continued glaring at him with teary eyes.

"Waise toh tumhe pure time argue krna hai. Lekin jab stairs uss krne ko bola toh wo pura karogi tum? Ban thodi na kia tha maine lift use krne se. I was teasing you, you stupid girl."

He said and she looked away. He was right. She could have used the lift. He couldn't even have stopped her.

Prateek examined her leg and called the attendee there.

"Get me the first aid box and the medicine box now."

The man sensed the urgency and ran to work. He came back with both the items in less than 5 minutes.

Prateek took the pain relieve ointment and put it on the swollen area. He started massaging it and she shrieked.

"Nhi please! It hurts. Prateek please leave it."

She cried clutching the couch tightly. She tried moving her leg but he held firmly. She clutched his arm and dug her nails in pain.

He let her and continued massaging.

"I know it hurts. But it is important. Dard reh jaayga warna."

He looked genuinely worried.

"I am going to break another vase of yours."

She sniffed and glared at him and he looked at her confused. Why was she after his vases?

"Why?"

"You broke my leg. It is fair."

"First thing, I didn't break your leg and second, you already broke my vase."

"Toh? Mera per tumhare do vases ke barabar hai na."

He shook his head at this crazy girl. Why was he even arguing with her.

He took the crepe bandage and wrapped it tightly around her swollen ankle to reduce to the swelling.

"Please aaram se."

She cried. The pain was making her dizzy. She rested her head back and he looked at her worried.

After securing the bandage he took a pain relief tablet and handed it to her.

He made her lay on the couch and let her rest. She didn't know when she fell asleep.

Next she woke up it was already evening. She sat up in haste and hissed as pain shot through her leg.

Prateek came in the cabin and saw her awake.

"You're awake! Kuch khaana hai?"

She shook her head and said that she has her leftover lunch and she would eat that.

Having her food she packed her things.

"Come I'll drop you."

He said and picked her up in bridal style making her shriek in surprise. She looked at him wide eyed and he said.

"Tumhari car kal ghar bhijwa dunga."

"Why are you being so caring? You hate me."

She asked and he looked at her saying.

"I don't hate you. I just joke around Vaani. I do care about you as a human. And moreover you are under my mentorship, under my care."

He put her down as they entered the lift. He again picked her up as they stepped out.

She knew people were looking at them but she didn't care. Her leg was hurting like crazy and she just wanted rest.

He drove to her home and parked the car.

Again picking her up he walked inside.

Her mother opened the gate and was shocked to see them like that.

Prateek made her sit on the sofa in the living room and her father asked.

"Second day and you have started causing trouble. Aise kaam krogi tum Vaani?"

Vaani looked down not letting him show her tears. Prateek frowned. Why was her father talking to her like that instead of asking how she was?

"She is not trouble sir. It was an accident. Kisi ke bhi saath ho skta hai. It has nothing to do with being good in work. And moreover she is very good in her work."

Prateek said not liking the way her father was taunting her. And definitely not liking the way she bowed her head.

Vaani looked at him shocked. No one has ever taken her side. Especially in front of her father. Even her mother never did.

"Take care Vaani. Aur jab tak per thik nhi ho jaata take rest."

He said and took his leave. Vaani kept looking at his retreating back until he wasn't visible.

Prateek on the other hand couldn't understand why he felt enraged when her father taunted her like that and she looked down.

The next week Vaani didn't come to office and a small, just a small part of him missed her.

Just two days and he felt addicted to her.

Vaani was thankful that it was not a fracture or bone break. It was just muscle tear which got much better through icing and warm water soak.

It was a Friday and her mother suggested she go on Monday now but Vaani wanted to go.

She was much better now and moreover she didn't want to celebrate her birthday at home.

Her parents didn't care. She was doubtful they even remembered.

She was really excited when she reached the office. Obviously no one here knew it was her birthday but she was happy to be out of home.

It is between to be around unknown strangers than known strangers.

She entered the cabin and grinned wide.

"Hi!"

He looked at her and raised his eyebrow.

"Aren't you a little too excited?"

He missed her too but he obviously wasn't going to accept it. She scowled and asked.

"Can you not greet people back like normal humans?"

"What's the fun in that?"

He replied with a smirk and she took her seat on the couch.

He gave her a file to make notes on and she started her work with utmost concentration.

It was around 12pm when the cabin door opened and someone walked in.
