"What?"
He asked confused and she nodded excitedly.
"Haan! Maine movies and books mai dekha hai. Tum ho, mai hoon, church bhi hai aur Vegas bhi hai. Let's get married."
She said with a childlike excitement and he thought about it. The idea wasn't bad.
"Lekin ek problem hai. We don't have rings."
He said pointing towards his hand.
"Toh chalo khareed lete hai."
With that she pulled him to the nearest local jewellery shop. They got couple rings for themselves and then proceeded towards the church while stumbling and giggling.
The father asked them to exchange rings after the vows were done and announced them as husband and wife. As soon as the permission to kiss the bride was given, Rishi cupped her face and smashed his lips on hers.
They reached their hotel and were stumbling across the hallway while still kissing each other in between.
"Meri room keys toh Saira ke paas hai."
Prisha spoke looking at him wide eyed.
"Tum apne room mai kyu jaaogi? Ab toh hum married hai. Mere saath chalo na."
He said and pulled her along in his room. He shut it while entering behind her and she held his nape and kissed him hard.
"Give me your shirt."
She said breaking the kiss and he frowned.
"Kyu?"
"Arre do na. Pata chal jaayega."
He unbuttoned his shirt and passed it to her. She raked her eyes down his sculpted chest.
"You have a six pack."
She whispered tracing the lines and he smiled.
"Not really. Abhi bhut faint. But work in progress."
She gave him a naughty smile ran inside the washroom with his shirt. She came out a minute later and his mouth ran dry seeing her only in his shirt and her hair parted to one side. She looked so seductive and effortlessly sexy.
"I don't have any lingerie for our wedding night. So issi se kaam chalana padega."
She said while sauntering towards him. He held her waist when she kept her hands on his chest and whispered.
"No lingerie can ever look this good. You look so mine."
She smiled and pushed him on the bed. He lay properly on the center and she climbed on his stomach. She cupped his face and kissed him hungrily. He snaked his arm around her waist and clutched her hair.
She left his lips and started peppering kisses down his neck. He breathed heavily when she nibbled on the skin at his neck.
He opened his eyes when he felt her movements stop and her weight suddenly drop on him. He looked her to see her asleep and chuckled.
Taking her properly in his arms, he too dozed off while cuddling her to sleep.
Prisha was woken by the sound of her phone ringing. She groaned and pressed the power button, muting the call down. But the caller was adamant and called again. She picked up while clutching her head. It was hammering.
"Bitch! Where the fuck are you? Marr warr toh nhi gyi na?"
She heard Saira's voice.
"I'm sleeping. Fuck off!"
She groaned while cuddling back into her pillow. It was too warm for a pillow. And why did she feel a weight on herself?
"It's 9! We have a flight to catch at 12. When do you plan to wake up?"
Her eyes flew open at this. Shit! Why did she drink so much to lose track of time.
"Argh! I'll be out by 10."
She disconnected the call and sighed. That's when she realised where the warmth was coming from and what the weight upon her was.
It was a human. A male to be precise. Her eyes widened. Did she sleep with a stranger from the club? But wait! Rishi wouldn't have let it happen. Could that mean-
She slowly turned around and confirmed her doubts seeing his peaceful sleeping face. She sighed in relief. It was him. Thank God. But wait! Why were they in the same bed?
She looked around and realised she wasn't in her room. What was she doing in his room? Oh God! Her head will burst. She kept her palm on her forehead and felt something cold against her skin.
She frowned. Now where the hell did this ring come from? Her eyes widened as she realised something. Her gaze travelled to his ring finger and she felt her breath stuck in her throat. What stupidity did they do in their drunken state?
She started shaking him to wake him up. He groaned and turned his face. She shook him with a little force. He looked at her with squinted eye and woke up with a jolt.
"What happened? What are you doing here? You okay?"
He asked checking her for injuries and she looked at him with her lower lip wobbling.
"W-what happened last night Rishi?"
She asked in a scared whisper and that's when he realised their conditions. He was shirtless and she was wearing his shirt. Only his shirt. He could see her bare thighs.
He cursed and got off the bed to make space between them and she looked at him clutching his hair in disbelief.
"I-I think we got married Rishi."
She spoke and he closed his eyes as some of the memories from the previous night came rushing back to him.
"I-shit-fuck!"
He groaned and she looked at him pacing around the room.
"Rishi-"
"It's all my fault. I shouldn't have given in when you insisted me to drink. I shouldn't have done that. Fuck Prisha! I don't even remember what happened last night. How the hell are you in my room? I remember kissing you but I don't know what else I did. Fuck!"
He held his hair and she gulped her tears.
"We did not do anything other than kissing."
"How do you know that? You remember what happened?"
He asked and she lowered her head and slowly shook it.
"I feel fine. I mean I don't feel anything-umm-you know-"
He sighed in relief. If he'd done something in their intoxicated state, he didn't know how he would ever apologize to her.
"We-we're married Rishi."
She repeated and his jaw hardens.
"It's my fault. I should have been careful."
He repeats and she shakes her head while going closer to him.
"It's not your fault Rishi-"
"It is! It was your vacation, not mine. I was here on duty. And I should have bloody stuck to it. But no! I drunk so much to lose my senses and do such an inappropriate thing. If something had happened when I was drunk, tab kya hota? I couldn't have protected myself let alone you."
He burst out and she stopped not knowing what to say.
"And about this marriage. It holds no value. Neither of us are Christian."
Her eyes widened listening to him and she spoke.
"Hey Rishi? I love you."
She confessed and he looked at her shocked. He knew she was attracted to him. But love? God no! He can't do that again.
"You remember you asked me why I resigned from my job at Shekhawat's? His daughter, the one I was protecting, she caught feelings."
She looked at him understanding what he meant and held his hand.
"Jo ho gaya, we can't do anything about that. Lekin once we go back home, I'm telling your father everything and I'm resigning."
"Nhi! Please! I-I promise I'll never raise this topic again. Lekin please resign mat kro. Please Rishi."
"Go back to your room and get ready. We have a flight to catch mam."
With that, he marched into the bathroom and slammed the door shut, leaving her behind with her tears flowing down her eyes silently. Why did she have to fall in love with him?
The flight back home was too silent and awkward for the two of them. Rishi couldn't leave her side and had to endure to sit beside her. Her confession still ringing in his ears.
"Hey Rishi? I love you."
God! Why is he not able to forget it? He cannot fall in love with her. They are not a match. Not in this world.
As soon as Prisha stepped into her home with Rishi following her tail, she was engulfed in a hug by her brother.
"You're not going to any trip for at least an year now. One week and I was worried sick. You're okay right?"
He asked ruffling her hair. She smiled weakly and said.
"I'm just jet lagged. I'll go and rest for a while. Aake batati hu what all we did."
She said trying to appear normal and started walking towards her room only to be stopped hearing Rishi's words.
"Sir? I want to talk to you."
She looked at him wide eyed. She shook her head and pleaded through her eyes to not resign but he didn't even glance at her and followed her brother to his study when he nodded.
Rishi and Priyansh entered his study and Priyansh looked at him.
"What is it Rishi? Sab thik hai na?"
Rishi looked head not meeting his eyes and said.
"I want to resign from my job sir. I don't think I'm fit for it anymore."
Priyansh frowned and raised his eyebrow.
"Not fit for it? Why do you think that?"
"I was supposed to protect her there. But I got convinced by their words and had multiple drinks. Enough to lose my senses. Anything could have happened sir. I couldn't do my job."
He said not very well that if he tells the other details, her brother would behead him here itself. Priyansh looked surprised. Not because he failed his job but because he confessed honestly.
"You realise your mistake and own up to it. I'm impressed Rishi. And I know you would have protected her even then. You don't have to resign. I know it won't happen again. Go and continue with your job."
Priyansh said and Rishi closed his eyes.
"There's something more?"
Priyansh asked and Rishi gulped before saying.
"She says she loves me sir."
He said still looking ahead and not meeting his eyes and Priyansh fell silent. There was an eerie silent for two minutes before Rishi heard a soft chuckle.
"Prisha Maheshwari hai wo. When she loves, she doesn't care about anything else. But I know for a fact that she will never force her feelings on you. Once she sees you're not interested, she'll back off respectfully. You can relax."
When Rishi still didn't move, Priyansh asked again.
"What's the actual matter Rishi?"
This time Rishi met his eyes, held eye contact and spoke in a soft whisper.
"I've caught feelings sir."
Something in Priyansh's eyes changed and he spoke in a grim tone.
"You'll continue your job until I find a suitable replacement."
Rishi nodded seriously and left the study. Ofcourse! What was he thinking? That her brother will give his blessings and ask him to pursue his feelings.
He couldn't change the fact that she was the Maheshwari princess and he was a mere bodyguard.
