Tanika woke up only in the morning. She stretched but was constrained by something or rather someone.

Ronak was literally sprawled over her. She wiggled into his hold waking him up in the process.

"You're up? How're you feeling?"

His hoarse morning voice did something to her.

"I'm good."

She whispered suddenly feeling too hot. She wiggled in his arms again and he frowned.

"I want to see the mark."

"You can't."

She frowned.

"Kyu? You marked me na?"

He propped on his elbows and hummed.

"Yes. But it won't be visible. A mark is a symbol of mates accepting each other. So that other wolves are aware that they are taken. If any other wolf comes near you they'd back off smelling me on you."

He explained but she got up nonetheless. He was right. There was no mark.

But she could feel it. The changes. If she found him attractive before, she found him irresistible now. Even now sitting on the bed with his hair messy, eyes sleepy and a lazy grin he looked like the hottest piece of living being alive.

She turned around facing him and grinned. She ran to him and straddled his lap.

"That means we can do it right?"

He chuckled rounding his arm around her waist and teased her.

"Aren't you too excited about it?"

He said leaning in for a kiss.

"Happy Birthday meri jaan."

He wished her again and she hugged him tightly. She wanted to see her parents today. It was her birthday.

"Chalo get ready. We have to go out."

"Kaha?"

"Kal itna disgusting cake khilaya maine tumhe. To get you a real cake."

He said making a face remembering the cake's taste. She giggled and ran to the bathroom to get ready.

An hour later the two were sitting in the car driving towards the bakery.

"I never asked you about what you do."

He knew what she was referring to.

"We run a local business. We supply herbal medicines. Jo hum khud banate hai."

She was awed. She had seen the laboratory in the mansion but never thought it could be used for that.

They reached the bakery and Tanika ran out excited. She looked around searching for the perfect cake.

"We need a 3 tier cake."

Ronak said from behind her making her gape at him.

"What? There are a lot of people."

She nodded and they gave their order. The person said the cake would take 3 hours so Ronak decided to roam around with her for a bit.

They went to a cafe nearby where she used to come with her parents.

"So what are you planning for the evening?"

She asked mischeviously and he shrugged looking at something behind her.

"Cake cut, dinner and sleep."

She gasped and hit his hand.

"It's my first birthday with you and this is what you plan?"

He chuckled and then got quiet.

"Its your birthday?"

She heard a voice and turned only to freeze. They were here. She was seeing them after so long. They looked the same.

"J-ji."

Her reply was a mere whisper.

"Happy birthday beta. God bless you."

They wished her patting her head and it took every effort in her not to cry.

They left and Tanika not caring about anything got up and hugged Ronak. He smiled and kissed her head.

"Thank you."

"I know you missed them."

He whispered and she sniffed. They went back with the cake and Tanika was in a great mood now.

Seeing them after so long made her happy. They were happy and smiling and she was happy.

Ronak was happy seeing her in a great mood.

In the evening her birthday was celebrated with all the members of the pack. Tanika looked pretty in her sparkling grey evening gown. Matching his wolf's fur. Ronak was too happy.

The dinner was over with and they were celebrating with drinks. Tanika stood in a corner with some of the friends she made there.

She suddenly felt a weird sensation run through her body. She thought maybe it was the effect of the drink she was having. She felt hot.

She removed the jacket and stood in front of the AC.

The feeling didn't wash off. It was still hot. She looked around to see if it was only her who felt such. No one else seemed bothered.

She felt a dull ache all over her body and she panicked. What was happening to her. She remembered Ronak telling her something about being in pain after the marking process.

She looked around to find Ronak and walked towards him. He saw her approaching with a pained look and immediately ran to her.

"Kya hua? You don't look good."

He asked cupping her face to feel her temperature. She was sweating heavily.

"I don't know. I feel hot. Bhut jyada. And it hurts."

He understood what it was and immediately took her to their room. He made her sit on the bed and switched on the AC on full swing.

"Tanika! Listen to me. It's because of the mark. You're in heat."

She knew what that meant. Thanks to the novels. And she knew he was right. Because she needed him. Desparately.

"I think-"

Before he could complete what he was saying she pulled him by his collar and smashed her lips on his taking him by surprise.

For a full minute he looked at her closed eyes. Realising that she wanted this he round his arm around her waist swiftly picking her up.

She let out a surprised gasp and round her legs around his waist. His one arm still around her waist and other on her hip as he moved towards the bathroom.

He put her on her feet still not breaking the kiss and switched on the shower.

She shivered as the cold water fell on her drenching the two of them completely.
