Sehrish Wahaj Khan came out of her room in a hurry. She was late for the day again.

Not really. She did have plenty time but for a girl so punctual like her she was late.

"Ammi! Mai nikal rhi hu."

She called for her mother while running towards the exit keeping her lunch and water bottle into her bag.

"Lunch box rakh lia?"

Her mother called back from the kitchen.

"Jee ammi!"

"Aur paani ki bottle?"

"Jee ammi rakh li. Nikalti hu ab. Khuda Hafiz!"

She was busy checking for everything in her bag and wasn't looking where was walking when she bumped into someone.

Hamza Rashid Khan was her taya-abbu's younger son. He was three years elder to her and she had loved this man since she remembers.

"Sorry! Maine dekha nhi."

She mumbled trying to hide her red cheeks. She was extremely shy in front of him which was very amusing for him.

Trying to control his smile he asked in an intimidating voice.

"Ready hai aap? Chalein?"

She nodded still not looking up and followed him biting her lip looking at his back.

He was very well built, having a great body and physique. But that's not what she fell for. He had a very good heart and was extremely respectful.

She was younger than him but he never called her disrespectfully and always addressed her using 'aap'. He had never touched her inappropriately and always maintained a respectable distance not making her uncomfortable.

"Kis soch mai koi hai aap?"

Her thoughts broke hearing his voice and she looked at him before looking back ahead and shaking her head. He smiled but suddenly got serious.

"Aage padhai ka kya socha hai Sehrish? Aap jaanti hai na aapki padhai khatam hote hi kya hoga?"

Her smile too fell and she closed her eyes not wanting to remember it.

"Jee jaanti hu. Kuch colleges select kiye hai maine lekin bhut confused hu. Jo colleges yaha hai wo achhe nhi lag rhe aur jo achhe lag rhe hai wo bahar hai."

"Bahar as in? Abroad?"

She shook her head and said.

"Delhi mai. Waha ke college ke review bhut achhe hai. Exposure bhut achha hai aur bhut kuch seekhne ko milta hai."

Hamza nodded and thought for a moment.

"Shaam ko ghar aake baat krte hai. Aaj aapke college ke forms ka bhi kaam khatam krte hai. Phir aapko apne boards aur entrance dono ki preparation accordingly krni padegi."

She nodded. She knew it and she was ready for it. Anything to avoid the dreaded conversation that would take place after the completion of her studies.

Sehrish was in her 12th and her boards were in a few months from now.

Hamza stopped the car in front of her school gate and she mumbled a small thank you starting to get off only to be stopped by his stern voice.

"Sehrish Hamza Khan!"

Her breath hitched. He did not call her that often. But whenever he did it made her feel tingles in her body. She wasn't unaware about the relationship they shared.

She slowly turned to face him but didn't look into his eyes. He held her wrist and softly pulled her closer making her eyes widen and clash with his playful ones.

"Kitni baar kaha hai aapse ki humse baat kre toh hamari taraf, hamari aankhon mai dekh kr kre. Kyu nazre churati hai aap humse?"

She lowered her eyes in shyness and mumbled slowly.

"Aisa-aisa kuch nhi hai."

His smile widened and he placed a soft kiss on her forehead.

"Shohar se sharma kar kaha jaayengi begum?"

Blushing even more she whispered.

"Hamza please na. Nhi krein!"

He chuckled and kissed her cheek making her look at him wide eyed and open mouthed.

"Thik hai! Nhi krta."

"Hamza!"

She gasped and hit his chest before running out of the car inside the school. He laughed loudly looking at her running form and a grin formed on his face.

Oh how he loved his cute, little wife. Sehrish on the other hand blushed touching her cheek where he kissed her.

She still remembered their nikaah and the circumstances in which it happened. Even after that it was the most beautiful day of her life. The day she became his. Legally and religiously. The day she became Sehrish Hamza Khan. His wife!

Everything was good in Khan villa. Atleast for the outside world it was. But the people living inside knew better.

The continuous losses in business led to multiple disputes between the two brothers Wahaj Khan and Rashid Khan. Daily arguments and fights led to sourness in relations.

Even their mothers couldn't do anything because the men were the decision takers and when they decide something they won't listen to anyone. Not even their wives.

The kids thankfully were still close to each other. Sehrish being the youngest and the only daughter of the house was the most pampered and loved one. She wasn't spoilt.

Sehrish was the only child of Wahaj and Naima Khan. Rashid and Hania Khan had two sons.

The elder one, Aarish Khan and the younger one, Hamza Khan. Hamza and Aarish had a difference of three years between them.

The family despite of the daily fights were still together because of the head of the family, Azim Khan. Wahaj and Rashid's father.

They were together and living under the same roof because of him. They loved and respected their father.

But one night when Azim Khan went to sleep he never woke up. He passed away in his sleep. The atmosphere of the house which already remained dull became even more gloomy.

Wahaj and Rashid became one unit till the time the last rites of their father was being performed but once the loss had settled on them the fights begun again.

Their grandmother was afraid the her sons might break the house into two taking their families with them. She had to find a permanent solution for the bitterness to end.
