"It's not a disease to be cured mam."

The doctor replied making Roshni look down embarrassed.

"I-I didn't mean that."

She mumbled and he smiled.

"I understand what you are trying to say. And yes. A person suffering from depression can recover. There are some pills and medications I'll prescribe, therepy sessions that she can attend but the most important and most effective is giving her a happy environment."

He turned to Naman and repeated his words.

"You sir are the most closest to her. And it's you who has to make sure she remains happy."

Naman nodded and Roshni looked away with anger. They got out of the doctor's cabin and his parents went to check on Vaishnavi.

Roshni pulled Naman aside and asked him.

"What are you going to do now?"

"I don't know. I'll do anything to keep her alive right now."

He said helplessly. He wished he could go inside her head and remove all the insecurities and fears she had. He had never seen his Vaishnavi like this. And he didn't like he like this.

"You know she's going to ask you to leave me. And marry her."

She reminded him and he sighed.

"Roshni! If I ask you to wait for me till she is fine and I am back to you, will you do that?"

The moment he asked this she knew what he would do and who he would choose.

"So you're going to agree if she asks this."

"I can't let her die Rosh. Please tell me you'll wait."

He pleaded and she sighed but didn't reply. Before he could ask further he heard his mother call him.

He went inside and saw Vaishnavi awake. He sat beside her and looked at her with mock anger.

"Why did you do that? Jaan legi tu khudki? Teri jaan pr sirf tera haq hai? Hum kuch nhi hai tere liye? Mai tujhpr thoda sa gussa krunga ya teri ek baat nhi manunga toh tu jaan legi apni?"

She looked at him with an apologetic expression and shook her head.

"Tu toh sab kuch hai mera Naman. Lekin tere bina nhi jee skti mai."

"Toh mai kaha jaa rha hu tujhe chhod ke?"

She wiped her tears and kept her head on his chest.

"I don't want to lose you. Mere saath rahio hamesha. Please Naman! Marry me please!"

Her broken voice broke his heart. He sighed loudly still caressing her hair and whispered.

"Ok."

He kissed her head and felt her relax. Roshni on the other hand felt like she had lost. Naman knew he would wait for Roshni. If she wanted him after this at all.

"Roshni? Bolo na. Wait krogi mera?"

She turned to him and smiled sadly.

"Agar tumhe sach mai lagta hai ki tum uske theek hone ke baad usse alag ho paaoge toh zarur krungi. Lekin tab tak please mujhs milna mat Naman. Nhi dekh paaungi mai usse being married to you."

He nodded understanding her situation. She was getting hurt too.

"Have a happy married life ahead Naman."

She whispered and he gave her a pleading look.

"Don't do this Roshni. Please!"

She just smiled in response and left.

Vaishnavi was discharged the following day and the day after that the two tied the knot in a private ceremony with only his parents. Her parents still did not bother about her.

He still remembered how she had cried telling him what she heard her parents speaking. She was an unplanned child and her parents didn't want another one after her elder brother. Her mother had tried aborting her but couldn't due to some complications.

She had given birth to her having no other option but never bothered about her after that. For her parents she never existed.

1 year later

An year had passed since Naman took the hard decision. Since then he had stood beside Vaishnavi like a constant support. She was not left alone for even a moment.

He went to therapy sessions with her and finally after an year his hard work was showing results. Vaishnavi was fine now.

She didn't have to take her medicines. His parents helped play a major role in this.

But he lost Roshni in between all this. All during the year he had called her and messaged her a number of times but all his calls went unanswered and messages unseen. It was like she had suddenly disappeared from his life.

And two days back he received her message. Actually not message, just a picture. He was shocked and had immediately downloaded only to get the biggest betrayal of his life.

She had promised she would wait for him. But she didn't. She had sent him the invitation card to her wedding.

"Yahi pyaar tha tumhara Roshni. Ek saal mai hi thak gyi tum. Zindagi bhar saath nibhane ke waade kiye the."

He chuckled humourlessly.

"Umeed toh khair meri tumse pehle hi khatam go gyi thi. Ab tumne invite kia hai toh aaunga zarur. Tumhe ye dikhane ki tum mere liye kuch nhi ho. Kyunki jo ladki saath nibhane ka wada karke itni asaani se tod de. Mere life mai uske liye koi jagah nhi hai."

And it was true. Naman had accepted the truth long back. He had seen her posts on social media and wasn't unaware of her dating fiascos. He thought she was doing it to hurt him.

In the beginning it did hurt but then he understood that maybe he was wrong to assume she was the one for her. Still somewhere in his heart he had made a place for her. And it wasn't easy to forget it.

Vaishnavi had started noticing Naman's mood as she started getting better. She blamed herself for his situation. He had done a lot for her. And now she had to do something for him. She snatched his happiness once. And she would give it back to him now.
