Epilogue

2 years later

Karan was looking at his wife's peaceful sleeping face. One look at her and anyone could tell that she was thoroughly ravished.

Her face held a beautiful glow, hair tangled and her body looked exhausted telling the tale of the wild night that they had.

Karan too was tired but he didn't want to close his eyes missing the view in front of him.

The past two years were bliss. They had arguments and fights, even to the extent where they yelled and shouted at each other but in the end they knew that they won't sleep mad at each other.

They knew their relationship was more important than their so called egos. Karan had already lost so many years with his father due to his ego and lack of communication and he didn't want to repeat the same with her.

She made him alive. She made him realise that he could still feel. That he was still a human.

He remembered the conversation he had with his father a few days back.

The three of them were out on a family picnic. Preeta as usual was clicking pictures and selfies making weird and cute poses.

What shocked Karan was that his father too joined her and even pouted for some of the pictures.

She surely made everything around her joyful.

They were at a fair and Preeta wanted to get her face painted. She got a half butterfly on the left side of her face and was sitting very excitedly getting it done.

Karan and his father just looked at her with a smile.

One with love filled eyes and the other with affection. She was the daughter his father had always wanted.

"She has made our house a home again."

His father said and Karan smiled still looking at her.

"She did!"

He agreed and his father again said.

"She reminds me of Gautami."

Karan smiled and looked at his father.

"She does!"

He kissed her head and finally closed his eyes when he could no longer keep them open and slept pulling her into his arms.

His true home. Her arms. Her warmth. Her.

The following morning Preeta woke up and saw Karan sleeping on his stomach. His one arm around her waist and one sprawled wide on his side. His one leg was over her legs pinning her to her place and the other sprawled wide on the rest of the bed.

His mouth closed in a cute pout that she couldn't help but place a small kiss on. He scrunched his nose cutely feeling the wetness and she giggled.

Karan was a light sleeper and would wake up with the slightest of the disturbances.

He opened his eyes and looked at her groggily. She gave him a wide grin and he gave back a lazy smile.

Yeah! He smiles now. Only to her and his father though.

He leaned in and took her lips in a soft kiss. She bit her lip and whispered.

"I love you."

"I know."

He replied making her narrow her eyes at him. She pointed a finger at his chest and said.

"I am going to make you say it back one day."

He just nodded challengingly and turned his face to sleep again.

She huffed and got up getting ready for the day.

Karan was back home from office and had just entered his room when he saw Preeta enter with her handbag.

"You went somewhere?"

He asked removing his shoes and she looked at him nervously.

He loosened his tie to remove it but stopped midway hearing her.

"I went to the hospital."

In two big steps he stood in front of her cupping her face and worry etched on his face and eyes.

"Hospital? Kyu? Are you hurt somewhere? Show me. Butterfly what is it? You're scaring me."

He held his hand which was on her face and kissed his palm while her eyes shone with tears. Happy tears.

"I am pregnant. We're having a baby."

Silence.

It seemed like he had stopped breathing. And then he dropped down on his knees facing her belly.

Placing a soft kiss on her stomach he looked at her. His eyes glistening with tears, he whispered softly.

"I love you. I love you so much Preeta. Thank you so much butterfly."

She cupped his cheek kissing his lips softly.

During dinner they told his father who was elated. And why not? Afterall it was his first grandchild.

Karan left no stone unturned to pamper her. Not like he didn't do it before but he was extra cautious now.

Preeta enjoyed the VIP treatment she was getting at home. Both the men ran at her one demand and she sat there giggling and rubbing her belly happily.

Karan rushed to the hospital in a panicky sprint. Out of all days when he was home today he had to visit the office for an emergency and she had to go into labour today only.

When he reached the maternity ward she was already inside and he could hear her screams.

He didn't miss his child's birth. Karan sighed and stood beside his father who looked worried. Even her parents were there. Karan touched their feet and they smiled giving him their blessing.

After what felt like hours they finally heard a loud wail and Karan's eyes teared up. His baby was here.

The nurse came out with the baby and handed her to Karan who sobbed seeing his little butterfly.

It was a few hours after the naamkaran puja where the priest gave them the letter from which they should name their daughter, Karan and Preeta were in their room with their little butterfly between them.

"Karan!"

"Yes butterfly?"

"I have thought of a name for her."

She whispered and smiled at her sleeping daughter.

"How about Gautami?"

She whispered again and looked at him. He looked at her with his eyes shining with unshed tears and carefully leaned in not hurting his daughter and his wife and kissed her deep.
