1 year later
The past year had been like a rollercoaster for Aanchal and Mishkat. Full of ups and downs.
The initial months were pure bliss but soon they got busy in their respective works and there were times when they did not have time to even say a hi to each other.
They started missing each other and the frustration of the same led to arguments which were solved too.
But the biggest crash in their lives came when a month back Mishkat's father passed away due to a sudden drop in oxygen levels leading to a heart failure.
Mishkat was broken. He pretended to be strong in front of his mother but Aanchal knew that he shattered inside.
The first two weeks he had weeped like a baby while she hugged him tightly letting him let it out.
He was slowly starting to get normal although still the dullness and gloom in his eyes was visible.
He had started overworking himself while trying to forget the pain. His mother had locked herself in her room. She did not come out. Her food was sent in the room.
Aanchal was starting to get worried about her family now. She needed to talk to Mishkat and bring him back. For his mother's sake.
But right now she wasn't tensed about that. Right now her worry was something else.
She stared at her phone reading the results while the results stared back at her with a clearly written 'Positive' over it.
It was true! She was pregnant! 5 weeks.
The last time they made love. It was another medical meet and they made love all night after coming back because Aanchal looked extremely gorgoeus according to Mishkat and he couldn't control himself. They had cut short the meet and returned home early.
Two days back she felt it. She had missed her period and she was extremely regular. She had also started to feel nauseous from many of her favourite foods.
She traced a hand over her stomach softly and I smile made way on her face.
She was pregnant! She had a baby growing inside her. Their baby. Hers and Mishkat's baby. The symbol of their love.
Her smile slowly fell as she remembered the current scenario.
She didn't know how Mishkat is going to react.
But she couldn't hide it now, could she?
Mishkat like most of the days now came late. She was waiting for him.
He entered the room looking extremely disheveled.
"Mishkat! Kuch baat krni thi."
(I wanted to talk about something.)
She started slowly and he gave her a tired glance.
"Is it important? Can it wait? I am tired Aanchal."
She looked down not saying anything and heard him sigh. She felt him walk towards her and cup her face in his hands.
"Kya hua?"
(What happened?)
He asked softly that she almost teared up.
"I miss you Mishkat. Please come back. I know you miss him. We all do lekin iss tarah khud ko sab se alag mat kijiye please. Mummy is losing herself. We need to be there for her. And I need you for it. We need you Mishkat."
(Don't separate yourself from everyone.)
She whispered teary eyed he and rested his forehead against her realising that he was hurting her too.
"I am really sorry meri jaan. I just-I was lost. Papa is-was my ultimate strength and losing him felt like losing a big part of myself. I know I have wronged you and mumma and I promise aaj ke baad aisa kabhi nhi hoga. Whatever may happen you will always find me with you. I'll never leave you and mumma alone now."
(It won't happen ever again.)
He said and kissed her lips softly and they kissed for a long time relishing the feel of each other after so long.
She pulled back and whispered.
"Don't ever leave us alone. We need you Mishkat."
He smiled and kissed her forehead.
"Never!"
He promised but she shook her head.
"We need you!"
She said emphazizing on the 'We' while keeping his hand on her stomach. His eyes teared up as he realised what she meant and he looked at her to confirm if it was correct.
She nodded with a teary smile and he kissed her again pouring his love and apology for not being there.
The two spend the night talking to each other about everything. What he felt, what she felt, their baby, and how they were going to announce it to their families.
They first wanted to tell his mother. But didn't know how. She wasn't coming out of her room and didn't want to see anyone.
But they had no other option. Mishkat held her hand and took her inside his mother's room without knocking. Knowing that if he knocks she will never see them.
"Kya kr rahe ho tum dono yaha. Mujhe nhi milna kisi se. Jaao yaha se."
(What are you doing here. I don't want to see anyone. Leave.)
His mother shouted in agony. Mishkat didn't budge and sat in front of her and held her hands.
"Let your feelings out mumma. Let it all out. Aaj ro lo khul ke. Par khud ko aur hurt mat kro aise. Accept the fact that he is not coming back. He is gone for good mumma. He is in a much better place now. And he would not want us to remember him with tears."
(Cry openly today. Don't hurt yourself anymore.)
His mother started tearing with his words and slowly she was weeping. He hugged her and she cried in his arms.
When she finally calmed down he gave her water and she cracked a pained smile.
"I miss him."
"I know. I do too."
Mishkat said and kissed her head. He smiled and actioned Aanchal to come forth. He held Aanchal's hand and said.
"We have a good news for you.".
Mishkat said and his mother looked on confused.
"Aanchal's pregnant. We're having a baby."
Her face lit up and for the first time in the whole month she smiled genuinely and beamed with joy.
She hugged Aanchal and kissed her head.
"Jeete raho. Aur hamesha khush raho. Bhagwaan tumhe sehatmand aulad de."
(Have a long life. Always be happy. May God bless you with a healthy child.)
She blessed her and Aanchal and Mishkat smiled seeing her slowly coming back.
