Chapter 1

Aadrik came out of the kitchen and saw his family sitting on the breakfast table.

"Here! Try this!"

He said placing a bowl of the new dish he tried. Dhriti and Anay carefully examined the dish and finally asked.

"Ye hai kya?"

(What is this?)

"Arre aap khaa kr toh dekho. Phir bataunga."

(First you eat. Then i'll tell.)

Aadrik said and served some of it in their plates. They had a bite of it and each of their faces beamed in appreciation.

Whatever it was, it was very nice.

"Arre waah! This is so good. Ab toh bata de kya hai?"

(Atleast now tell what is this?)

Dhriti said taking another bite while Anay was gobbling it up quickly. He loved his brother's cooking a lot.

"Boiled aaloo ki dish hai. Naamkaran baad mai karenge."

(Boiled potato. We'll name it later.)

Aadrik said trying to control his laughter seeing his mother and brother's faces. They looked at him and then back at the dish.

"Ye ubla hua aaloo hai?"

(This is boiled potato?)

Dhriti asked not able to believe.

Anay shrugged his shoulders as if saying 'Sanu ki?' and started eating again.

This was the magic of Aadrik Sharma. He could even make a boiled patato taste so yummy that people would not believe it was just an ubla hua aaloo. Today they were going to Ivaan's house. Today was his birthday and Kiara had thrown a surprise party for him.

She had specially requested Aadrik to get everything made perfectly. He reached a little early to get everything arranged. Tanvi opened the door and he greeted her.

He asked the men to carry the things inside and set in it the kitchen. He instructed them what to do in the cafe as he would not be available and sent them.

He was coming back to the kitchen when he saw her tiptoeing towards it silently giggling. He shook his head at her antics. She loved the food he made but would never admit it in front of him.

He smirked and went behind her to catch her red handed. She was giggling and opened the lid of one of the bowls. Her smile dropped. She opened every lid and groaned.

"Kuch bhi taiyar krke nhi laaye!"

(He has not prepared anything!)

Aadrik pursed his lips to control his laughter. He quietly went behind her and whispered near her ears.

"Caught you!"

"Aah!"

She shrieked and jumped, lost her and balance and was about to fall. Aadrik tried to catch her but too late. She fell on the ground straight on her bum.

"Oww!"

She cried while rubbing her back and he turned her shaking in silent laughter. He calmed down and looked at her. She was standing and rubbing her back with an embarrassed expression.

"Dekh lia chori krne ka anjaam."

(This is the consequence of stealing.)

He teased her and she looked away embarrassed.

"Mai chori nhi kr rhi thi. Mai toh-mai toh-haan mai check kr rhi thi ki sab sahi se bana hai ya nahi."

(I was not stealing. I was- yes i was checking if everything is made correctly or nor.)

He nodded mockingly while trying to control his laughter.

"Tum kab accept krogi ki you love my cooking?"

(When will you accept you love my cooking?)

"Jee nhi. Aisa kuch bhi nhi hai ok?"

(No. Its not like that.)

"Yeah right. Aisa kuch nhi hai. Agar aisa kuch hota toh aap har dusre din mere cafe mai aakar thodi na baithti."

(Its not like that. If it would have been you would not come to my cafe every second day.)

He teased her and she closed her eyes embarrassed.

"Mai bas uss cold coffee shake ke liye aati hu."

(I just come for that cold coffee shake.)

"Haan aur uss cold coffee shake ke saath jo aap roz koi na koi nayi dish saaf kr jaati hai let's not count that. Shall we?"

(Yes and let's not count the new dishes you try every time with it.)

She looked at him trying to think of something but whined in annoyance seeing the teasing expressions on his face.

"Argh!"

She stomped her foot and left from there. He laughed heartily. He just loved to tease her. He just loved her so much.

'Don't Aadrik! Don't go there!'

'Yeah i know!'

He sighed sadly.

He knew he shouldn't have such feelings for her. She was his best friend's sister and he was breaking the unspoken bro code. He smiled remembering the first time he had actually noticed her as more than his best friend's sister.

He was around 21 years old at the time and she was 18. They were in Jaipur attending Viraj's wedding.

Ditya was always a tomboy. She hated to wear traditional clothes, especially the ones that showed her skin. She felt nervous. It was not like she was very fat or something. She was not very fat nor absolutely thin. She had curves at the right places.

Aadrik was coming out of his room in his three piece suit that he was going to wear in the wedding.

He saw her come out of the room in a beautiful lehanga. She had her dupatta at her side like a stole. Her tummy was clearly visible.

It was the first time he had seen her in anything else then her oversized shirt and loose jeans.

She looked so pretty. But he could see her nervousness. He wanted to calm her but shook the thoughts off.

'Stop looking at her like that Aadrik!'

He forced himself to tear his eyes away from her.

It was in the middle of the wedding when he saw her sitting in a corner looking scared as hell. He went towards her worried and asked her.

"Hey! Kya hua? Why do you look so scared?"

(What happened?)

She looked at him and spoke in a whisper.

"Aap please mumma ya aunty ko bula laayenge."

(Can you please call mumma or aunty.)

She looked like she was about to cry any moment. That's when he noticed her hand behind her back and her dupatta covering her.

He realised what must have happened and immediately removed his coat. He gave it to her and turned his face away covering her.

She wore his coat and clucthed it tightly. She called him meekly feeling really embarrassed.

"Change krne ke liye kuch hai?"

(Do you have something to change?)

He asked softly and she nodded meekly.

"Room mai hai."

(In the room.)

He nodded and got her room keys. He held her hand and took her to her room.

"Mai yahi hu. Change krlo."

(I am here. Go change.)

She nodded and took out a gown that she had brought for emergency.

She came out of the washroom wearing the gown. Her clothes were in her hands.

She kept the lehanga aside and examined the blouse. Its hook was broken.

"Isliye mujhe ye kapde pehnna pasand nhi hai but mumma sunti hi nhi hai."

(That's why i don't like these clothes but mumma doesn't listen.)

She mumbled and he smiled softly.

"Its ok. You look beautiful in this too."

She looked at him wide eyed. It was the first time he had openly complimented her. She smiled shyly and they went out smiling.
