Kiara was sitting in her room reading the letter she received last night.
Don't even try to do what you are doing. Anjaam bhut bura hoga. Abhi toh sirf ghar mai ghuse hai jab ghar khaali tha. Agar ye natak band nhi kia toh agli baar tab aayenge jab tu ghar mai hogi. Aur phir kya hoga wo tu khud samajhdaar hai.
The letter read. Ofcourse. She knew something like this would happen.
Yesterday she had finally gained courage and spoke up what she had wanted to since so many years.
She had decided to unveil the true face of the so called industrialist Nilesh Moondhra in front of the world. She was questioned about the authenticity of the claim she was making.
She came back home to find out that her lock was tampered and there was a letter lying on the table with a bouquet of lily flowers. Ofcourse, few people knew that lily flower symbolizes death.
But she was not afraid of it, what does she have to lose anyway.
She held the pendant she was wearing and kissed it muttering 'Give me strength mumma'.
She was sitting in her shorts and tank top when she heard the bell ring. She left the letter on the bed and went out to see who it was.
She peeked through the keyhole and found a man of around her age standing there. She was trying to read his body language to figure out whether he was danger. But it did not seem like.
He rang the bell again and she opened the door just a little bit. She peeked through it and asked.
"Who are you?"
"Oh hi. I am Ivaan Shekhawat. Criminal lawyer."
"Kya chahiye aapko?"
(What do you want?)
"Kuch baat krni thi aapse. Andar aa skta hu?"
(I wanted to talk to you. Can i come inside?)
"Mai kaise yakeen karu ki aap sachme lawyer hai aur uss Nilesh ke aadmi nhi hai."
(How do i believe you are actually a lawyer and not that Nilesh's man.)
He nodded and showed her his id. She looked at it carefully and opened the door for him. He smiled politely and entered in.
She asked him to sit and asked what would he have. He denied and just asked her to sit.
He smiled at her and she asked with a stoic face.
"Kya baat krni thi aapko?"
(What did you want to talk about?)
His smile dropped a little and he mumbled.
"Galat nhi bulate isse Miss expressionless."
(They don't call her wrond Miss expressionless.)
"Excuse me."
He cleared his throat and said.
"Haan wo jo accusations aapne Nilesh Moondhra par lagaye hai uske baare mai. Do you realise iske kitne serious consequences ho skte hai?"
(The accusations you put on Nilesh Moondhra.)
He asked mock smiling.
"Aap yaha mujhe uske consequences batane aaye hai?"
(You came here to tell me about the consequences?)
"Jee nhi. Aapko unn consequences se bachane."
(No. To save you from them.)
She raised and eyebrow at him asking him to continue.
"Allegations toh laga diye. Unhe prove bhi krna hota hai. Aur wo aap bina lawyer ke toh kr nhi paayengi. Aur koi bhi lawyer aapka case lene ko taiyar nhi hoga. Koi itne bade insaan se bina matlab takkar nhi lena chahega."
(You have put allegations. You need to prove them too. And you won't be able to do that without lawyer. And no lawyer will take your case. No one would go after such a big man without any reason.)
"Toh aap yaha kyu aaye hai?"
(Then why are you here?)
She asked leaning forward. He smiled and leaned forward.
"Curiosity. Ye sab publicity ke liye kiya hai ya koi or reason hai?"
(Is this a publicity stunt or some other reason?)
Her expressions hardened and he saw a fire and anger in them. As if she was trying to hide so much behind those little orbs.
Kiara went down the memory lane. All the pain she and her mother had to suffer, all those years her mother tried hard to protect herself and Kiara's dignity and purity. But those vultures snatched it away from her.
"Agar be matlab hota toh uss rakshas ki jalti nhi."
(If it had been without any reason then that monster would not have reacted.)
She said with an unreadable expression. Ivaan frowned and asked.
"Matlab?"
(Means?)
"Just a minute."
She said and went in to bring the letter. She handed it to him and his eyes widened reading it.
"Ye? Ghar mai ghusse matlab?"
(This? Entered the house means?)
"Kal raat ko jab ghar wapas aayi toh lock toota hua tha. Aur ye letter rakha tha table with lily flower. Death flowers."
(When i returned home last night the lock was broken. And this letter and lily flowers were kept on the table.)
She chuckled humourlessly and he looked at her as if was mad.
"Aur tum phir bhi yahi rahi. Are you out of your mind?"
(And still you are here.)
He said raising his voice and little and she looked at him.
"Excuse me?"
"No. Excuse me. Tumhe khuli damki di hai usne. Ghar mai ghus gaya aur aap phir bhi yahi ruki hai. Suicide krne ka program hai kya?"
(They have openly threatened you. They entered the house and you are still here. Are you planning on suicide?)
She gave him an offended look and said.
"Darti nhi hu mai usse."
(I am not scared of him.)
"Maine kab kaha tum darti ho. Lekin agar yahi rahi toh zinda toh nhi chhodega wo tumhe jyada din. Agar sachme uski sachai sable saamne laani hai toh uske liye zinda rehna padega."
(I never said that you are. But if you stay here he won't leave you alive for long. If you want to bring his truth among people that you have to be alive right.)
She looked at him. He was right but she had nowhere to go. She couldn't go any hotel, he could easily trace her.
"Why do you care?"
She asked and he smiled mischievously.
"Ab apna client toh zinda chahiye na mujhe."
(Now i want my client alive right.)
"Aap mera case ladenge?"
(You will fight my case?)
He nodded and she looked at him confused.
"Kyu? Jab koi bhi lawyer mera case lene ko taiyar nhi hai. Yakeen tak karne ko taiyar nhi hai. Toh aap kyu apna career daw pr laga rhe hai?"
(Why? When no lawyer is ready to take it. Believe it. Then why are you risking your career?)
He smiled and said moving a little close to her.
"Yahan aane se pehle main bhi ye case nhi lene wala tha. But tumhari aankhon mai sachai hai. I know i sound filmy and dramatic but it is what it is. Mai nhi jaanta usne kya kia hai tumhare saath but mai itna jaanta hu ki ab tum akeli nhi ho. Advocate Ivaan Shekhawat tumhare saath hai."
(I was not going to take the case before coming here. But there is a truth in your eyes. I don't know what he did with you but you are not alone. Advocate Ivaan Shekhwat is with you.)
She looked at him as if she was not expecting that. She looked away and said.
"Thank you. Aapko jo bhi cheeze chahiye iss case ke liye wo bata dijiyega."
(Tell me what all you will need for the case.)
He smiled and said.
"Sabse pehle toh tum chahiye ho."
(First i want you.)
She looked at him wide eyed and he quickly corrected his statement.
"I mean tum zinda chahiye ho. Toh iss jagah se niklo."
(I mean i want you alive. So get out of this place.)
She nodded not looking at him. She couldn't tell him that she had nowhere to go.
"I will."
He nodded and said.
"Baaki cheeze dobara milke discuss karenge. Jo bhi proofs tumhare paas hai we would need that. Tum mujhe mere office pr-nhi ghar par milna. Office safe nhi hai."
(Rest things we will discuss after meeting. Get all the proofs you have. You meet me at my home. Office is not safe.)
He said and gave her his card. She nodded and took the card. He gave her a few more instructions and they exchanged their numbers.
She said that she would meet him tomorrow and he left after warning her about the location again.
She closed the door and started collecting all the things he said.
She knew that she shouldn't believe him so easily but something in his eyes made her believe him.
