Advik Malhotra is a CEO of a successfully running IT company. He had everything a man wants in his life. A good and happy family which included his parents and younger sister whom he loved a lot but also loved to tease a lot. A perfectly stable career, a best friend who had his back always and a lot of money. What else did one need? Right?
Well let's ask him only.
He and his father entered his house dead tired but the scene in front of him had him smiling softly.
Her mother was waiting for them in the living room dozing off. He looked at his father who too had a smile on his face.
He quietly went inside while Advik went to his room to change leaving the couple in privacy.
He adored their relationship. They were not a perfect couple. No one is. They have had their share of arguments and even fights when they were not on talking terms but there was never a time when they slept angry or upset on each other.
He loved how even after 28 years of marriage they were so in love with each other and have always remained loyal to each other.
Couples nowadays get bored of each other after a few months. It was very difficult to find true and actual love in today's world.
Which was something he wanted. He had everything but wanted someone like his mother for himself.
He wanted someone to love her like his mother loved his father. He wanted someone to care for him and be with him in every situation just like their parents did for each other. He wanted someone to trust him just like their parents had on each other. He wanted someone to remain loyal to him just like his parents did to each other.
Thinking of all this his mind involuntarily went to his college days. To Kanika. His first girlfriend. The girl he though he loved. Until one day he caught her cheating on her.
He smiled bitterly remembering the time. He went out to see his mother serving their dinner while scolding his father for coming home late again while his father smiled goofily at her.
"Tabiyat ka toh bilkul dhyaan nhi hai aap ko. Mere bete ko bhi apne jaisa bana rhe hai. Der se aane laga hai wo bhi ab."
(You don't care about your health at all. You are making my son too like you. He has also started coming late now.)
He went and hugged her from behind.
"Sorry. Dobara late nhi hoga. Aaj zaruri meeting thi."
(It won't happen again. There was an important meeting today.)
He kissed her cheek and settled on the table. Her heart melted and she kissed his head and served them dinner.
"Advik! Ananya ka kal interview hai. Pareshaan ho rhi thi. Thodi help kr dio kal."
(Ananya has her interview tomorrow. She was tensed. Help her tomorrow.)
He nodded and said.
"Prepared hai wo puri. Bas first time hai iss wajah se nervous ho rhi hai. Mai kal baat krta hu."
(She is prepared. She is just nervous because it's first time for her. I will talk to her tomorrow.)
He said and went to his room after wishing his parents a good night.
He slumped on the bed thinking about his life. Fours years back he had completed his college and started working in the company. He wanted to make his parents proud of him. And he did that an year ago when he had taken over the position of CEO. The proud look on his parents face made his heart swell with happiness.
He smiled remembering the scene. One thing he loved about his parents was they had never compared him and Ananya.
Even after him becoming very successful they had never pressurized her into anything. It was her decision and they had supported and guided her.
The next day he woke up and after getting ready went to the dinning table for breakfast.
He saw Ananya sitting nervously.
"Relax. I know you are prepared. Bas be confident. Jo bhi interviewer puchhe just answer it calmly."
(Whatever the interviewer asks just answer it calmly.)
"I know bhai but darr lag rha hai."
(But i am scared.)
She said nervously. He sighed and said.
"Isliye keh rha tha mai ki pehle hamari company mai karle job. Don't worry just repeat the mantra."
(That's why i was saying first work in our company.)
He said smiling. She too smiled.
"I am the best!"
"That's like the spirit."
He hugged and both of them started off. He dropped her off to her location and wished her an all the best. And then went to his office.

He was lying on his bed staring into the blank space. His mind going back to what his mother has been saying.
"Advik beta kuch baat hui hai kya? Jab bhi shaadi ki baat krti hu tu chid jaata hai. Sab thik hai na beta?"
(Advik is there something troubling you. Whenever i talk about marriage you get irritated. Is everything ok?)
He sighed. He could not tell his mother the truth. She would get worried for no reason. But he couldn't just get himself to forget everything and trust someone again. Could he?
"Mumma. Aisa kuch nhi hai. Mai bas. Abhi ek hi saal hua hai mujhe CEO ki post sambhale. I don't think i am ready for this."
(There's nothing like that. I just. It had just been an year since i took over CEO's post.)
"Yahi baat hai na beta. Or is there something else. We are very open minded beta. Agar kuch batana hai toh you can share with us."
(Is it this only. If you want to share something you can.)
He got confused at his mother's question but his eyes widened when he caught the reference. Was his mother thinking that he was gay?
"God! Mumma! Aisa nhi hai. Ok fine aap dekhlo jo ladki dekhni hai lekin mai abhi shaadi ke liye haan nhi karunga. Milna milana is fine lekin usse jyada i can't promise."
(Its not that. Okay fine you see whatever girl you want to but i will not agree to marriage right now. Meeting and all is fine but nothing more.)
"Hayee mera beta!"
(My son!)
His mother jumped in excitement and the next few hours she messaged and called each of the known she could for the matter at hand.
He chuckled remembering his mother's excitement. He loved his mother to death. But marriage? Was he ready to trust someone again? He was definitely over Kanika but not over the hurt she gave him.
But he didn't know why he wanted to go with the flow this time. It was as if his heart was whispering 'Bas ek baar aur'.
He sighed and decided to call the only person who could help him. ************************************** This was Advik for you.
