Two months have passed and Dhriti has now graduated from college. Her mother wanted her to takeover the brand she was running. But Dhriti wanted to prove her capability of handling it before taking over.
She had got her result yesterday and decided to apply for job so that she could gain some experience.
She was missing Utkarsh a lot but did not call him. Well, reason being, he had shouted on her yesterday and that too without any reason.
Dhriti had received her result and was on the top of the world after knowing that she stood second. She wanted to share this news with Utkarsh and so she dialled him.
He did not pick up. She dialled again. Again no response. She dialled once more.
"Hii-"
She started excitedly but was harshly cut off.
"Agar koi call nhi utha rha toh samajh nhi aata ki wo baat nhi krna chahta ya busy hai."
(If someone is not picking up the call then you should understand that he doesn't want to talk or is busy.)
Came his cold and harsh voice. Dhriti was shocked. It was the first time she had heard him talking like this.
"Utkarsh mai toh bas-"
(I was just.)
"Please Dhriti! For God sake. I don't want to talk to you right now."
Saying that he disconnected the call.
A few tears had escaped her eyes which she wiped off harshly.
And since then she had decided that she would not call him first.
She was sitting with her family watching tv and talking when her phone rang indicating his call.
'Oh! Toh yaad aa gyi janab ko.'
She thought and disconnected it. It rang again and this time her mother asked her who it is.
"Pta nhi mumma. Shayad jis site pr job ke liye register kiya tha unka hoga."
(I don't know mumma. Maybe the job site where i registered.)
She lied not looking at her.
"Toh utha kyu nhi rhi. Jao jaa kr baat kro."
(Then why are you not picking up. Jo talk.)
Saroj shooed her away. Dhriti went to her room and attented the call but did not say anything.
"Umm-hii."
Came his nervous voice.
"Kya hai?"
(What is it?)
She said coldly.
"Umm-baat krni thi."
(I wanted to talk.)
"Agar koi call nhi utha rha toh samajh jaana chahiye ki wo baat nhi krna chah rha."
(If someone is not picking up that means he doesn't want to talk.)
She said his words from last day. He sighed and said.
"I am sorry. I was frustrated. I lost the project i have been working on. Aur uska gussa aur frustration tumpr utar gaya."
(And the frustration and anger got out on you.)
Dhriti's heart melted at his tired voice. She knew he was working hard on the project. It would have been a huge leap in his career if he had got the project.
"Aaram se bhi bol skte the na. Maine kabhi aapko zabardasti baat karne ke liye thodi na kaha hai. Jab bhi aap busy the maine hamesha samjha hai."
(You could have told me calmly. I never forced you to talk. Whenever you were busy i understood.)
"I know and i am sorry. Mai bas kal kuch jyada hi upset tha. Maaf krdo na Jaana."
(I was just very upset yesterday. Forgive me Jaana.)
And there goes her anger. She just loved the way he called her Jaana.
"Achha maaf kiya. Aapko pta hai kya!"
(Ok forgiven. You know what!)
She said suddenly remembering why she had called him yesterday. And that's how they were back to normal.
A month later Dhriti had started to give interviews for various brands. Yesterday was Rashi's Godh Bharai ceremony and now everyone was aware of Sakshi and Adarsh's relationship. At first everyone was tensed thinking of whether the elders would accept or not but everything went well.
Dhriti told Utkarsh about it.
"Matlab hamare chances hai."
(We also have our chances.)
He joked.
"Koi bharosa nhi hai. Unki shaadi nhi hui thi."
(Can't say anything. They were not married.)
"Tum mujhe hausla de rhi ho ya phir dara rhi ho."
(Are you motivating me or scaring me.)
She laughed but then suddenly turned serious.
"Hum apni families ko kab batayenge Utkarsh. Its been more than an year now."
(When will we tell our families Utkarsh.)
"Hmm. Ek baar mai wapas aa jaau. Iss layak ban jaau ki bina darre tumhare papa se tumhara haath maang saku. Tab."
(Let me come back once. Be capable of asking your father for your hand in marriage. Then.)
"Agar unhone mana kr dia toh? Mai aapke bina nhi reh skti Utkarsh".
(What if he says no? I can't live without you.)
She sobbed.
"Aisa kuch nhi hoga. Tu negative mat soch. Waise are you on your periods?"
(Nothing of this sort will happen. Don't think negative.)
She wiped her tears.
"Aapne kya meri dates yaad kr rkhi hai?"
(Have you remembered my dates?)
He chuckled and shook his head.
"Nhi. Par pata chal jaata hai because you get super emotional."
(No. But i get to know because you get super emotional.)
He said chuckling and she pouted.
"I miss you."
"I miss you too Jaana."
"Aapko chhutti kab milegi?"
(When will you get a leave?)
"Abhi kuch keh nhi skte. Project jaane ki wajah se boss waise hi kilsa pada hai. Chhutti ka agar puccha bhi toh job se nikal dega."
(Can't day anything. Boss is already frustrated because i lost one project. If i even ask of any holiday he would kick me out.)
"But aap toh dusre project pr work kr rhe hai na."
(But you are working on another project.)
"Hmm par jab tak wo nhi mil jaata tab toh nhi aa skta."
(Yes but till i get that i cannot come.)
She hummed and they talked for some time.
She went out of her room and saw a couple sitting there. She recognized them as Khushi's parents. Khushi was in Adi's school and they were best friends.
Bhavna and Khushi's mother had bonded well and she had invited them for dinner.
They had their dinner together and then the men sat together to do their favourite time pass. Descision upon politics.
The ladies got together and started talking about their work and chatted for some time. Adi and Khushi were busy playing with Arohi.
Adi, Khushi, Arnav, Ahana and Reyansh. All of them were in the same school and God! They were complete gundas of their school. Reyansh being the eldest had to be in control. Adi was the most notorious and with Arnav and Ahana being his partners in crime they were impossible to tame. Khushi was naughty but in limits.
Adi had the most innocent face among them all but he was exactly opposite of how he looked.
Everyone said that he had taken up the habits of his chachu, Adarsh. And Adarsh patted his back for making him proud.
If the kids wanted something which they knew they would not get they would ask their Dhriti bui. Knowing that their fathers would never say no to their princess.
The kids sure were much more smarter than their age.
And let's just not talk about the pranks that they pull.
