"Dhriti! Dhriti! Uth bhi jaa ab."
(Wake up now.)
Saroj was trying to wake her lazy daughter up. Dhriti Singhania. The youngest of the Singhania siblings and the most loved and pampered one.
One thing that she hates with all her heart is getting up early. She loves her sleep.
Dhriti groaned and pulled the comforter over her head.
"Thodi der sone do mumma."
(Let me sleep some more time mumma.)
She whined and slept again. Saroj sighed and shook her head muttering 'Pata nhi kya hoga iss ladki ka'.
"Uth Dhriti. College ke liye late ho jaayega."
(Get up Dhriti. You will be late for college.)
That seemed to have done some kind of magic because the next second Dhriti was sitting upright on her bed. She looked at the time and whined again.
"Mumma. Abhi 2 ghante hai pure."
(There are still 2 hours.)
Seeing that she was awake Saroj went out to do her work. Dhriti knew that now she would not be able to sleep even if she wants to. She got up and went to take bath.
She came out from the bathroom after half an hour and started getting ready. She had always loved to go to college.
One of the reasons is that she get to see her friends daily. Another was their college canteen and the third one was, well, him.
And today she was very excited because there was a Badminton match in their college and he was going to play against the rival college.
Putting on a simple crop top, black jeans and a jacket, she got ready. Not a big fan of makeups, she applied her lip balm and put it in her pocket.
Looking at herself one last time she took her bag and rushed outside. Everyone was waiting for her on the breakfast table.
She wished her father and tauji a good morning and hugged her taiji. She sat down beside Bhavna and took Adi on her lap and gave a wet kiss on his cheeks.
After breakfast she called her bestfriends. Abeer and Tanvi. She met them in her first year. There was nothing special about them, they just clicked together.
Dhriti was doing a Fashion Designing course from NP College (Imaginary name). Tanvi and Abeer were doing LLB from the same college.
They did not have any common classes but made sure that they met in the canteen during their breaks.
Dhriti reached the college and went to the playground. There were no classes today because of the match. Students were allowed to come to the college to spectate the match.
Dhriti was busy looking around for someone when two voices shouted in her ears.
"HELLO!"
"Aah! Tanvi! Abeer! Insaano ki tarah nhi aa skte kya tum dono?"
(Can't you greet like humans?)
She said blocking her ears. Abeer laughed and hi-fived Tanvi.
"Kaha ghum hai madam? Kise dhund rhi hai ye nigaahe?"
(Where are you lost? Whom are your eyes finding?)
Tanvi teased wiggling her eyebrows and Dhriti rolled her eyes. Ofcourse they would tease her. She had literally begged them to come today because she wanted to see him play.
"Aisa kuch nhi hai. Mujhe bas game dekhna tha."
(Its nothing like that. I just wanted to see the game.)
Dhriti said turning her face to the other side.
"Achha. Game dekhna tha ya game khelne wale ko."
(Really. Wanted to see the game or the one playing the game.)
Abeer said in a teasing voice. Dhriti glared at him.
"Shut up Abeer Shekhawat."
She said and he put his finger on his lips still smiling. Tanvi laughed at him.
"Aa gye aapke sapno ke rajkumar."
(There is your dream boy.)
She said to Dhriti and Dhriti turned around with the speed of lightening.
There he was. Ready in his badminton jersey. The best badminton player of the college and Dhriti's crush. He was two years senior to her.
He was carefully listening to what his coach was saying. He looked at her side and their eyes met for a brief moment before he again concentrated on his coach.
The moment was so short that no one would have noticed but it was enough for Dhriti's heart to go haywire.
The game started and the while Dhriti's eyes were stuck on him. She couldn't help but notice the way his muscles bulged everytime he swinged his racket.
The way he flailed his hands in the air after every point and strangely she thought he looked at her after every point he scored.
The game ended with the score of 21-18 and their college winning the game. Dhriti shouted in joy as soon as the result came. She even gave her friends treat in happiness.
Going back home she told the news to everyone that her college won the badminton match. Saroj shook her head at her daughter's antics while Damini kissed her head.
At night when everyone was sitting together in the living room, Damini told the younger Singhanias to complete their shopping.
They had decided that they would do Vaibhav's marriage shopping together with Rashi's cousins. So the next day was finalised.
Dhriti went to her room and started doing her pending assignment. After completing it she lay on the bed thinking about him.
"Hey Bhagwaan! Bas ek baar baat krwa do. Aur kuch nhi chahiye. Please."
(Oh God! Just let me talk to him once. Nothing else. Please.)
She prayed to God and slept not knowing that God had indeed listened to her and she was in for an unbelievable surprise.
The next day Vaibhav woke her up and told her to get ready because he did not want to get late. They were going shopping with Rashi and her cousins.
They reached the showroom. Rashi and Sakshi were already there with Dhruv. Pranati and her brothers were about to arrive.
Dhriti was looking around for some good dress for herself when she heard that Pranati was here.
She turned around and saw Pranati with her cousin Yug. Adarsh asked her about her brother and she said he is parking the car.
The next moment the gate of the showroom was opened and Dhriti looked at him wide-eyed. She blinked her eyes several times to make sure she wasn't dreaming.
He came forward and shook hands with all her brothers one by one and Dhriti just kept looking at him.
