Vanisha rushed inside the house as soon as the maid opened the door. Her favourite singer was in town and she HAD to go to his concert. While running in excitement, she didn’t notice where she was going and bumped into someone.

Due to her speed and clumsiness, she lost her balance but before her ass could kiss the floor, she felt a warm hand grasp her arm in a secure grip and she was yanked back. Her chest bumped against his and her eyes widened.

“Oops!”

She muttered sheepishly. He always made her nervous. Maybe because of his strict nature that she had seen and heard about since childhood. Or maybe because of the way he always gave her those deadly glares.

Only she was ignorant enough not to realise that those were not deadly glares were intense stares. Only if she saw anyone besides her best friend. Who also happened to be the younger brother of the man standing before her.

Ved knew what this woman, who had his heart in her grip, was looking for.

“Vedant terrace pr hai.”

He said and she immediately brightened.

“Okay! Thank you!”

And she rushed off to coerce Vedant to accompany her to the concert, while Ved shook his head with a smile seeing her run around like a child. His gaze fell on his mother who was looking at him with a frown. He neutralised his expression and scurried off to work.

“VED!”

Vanisha called for her best friend. His name was Vedant but she sometimes called him Ved.

“Kyu gala phaad rhi hai chudail? Behra nhi hu mai teri tarah. Sunai deta hai mujhe.”

Vedant scowled while rubbing his ear in pretend hurt. Vanisha kicked his shin but then grinned wide showing him the announcement. He sat up in excitement when he read it.

“Wow! Kya kru mai iska?”

He said in a bored tone making her hit him again.

“Concert hai. Chalega tu mere saath.”

She said and booked two tickets. She showed it to him and he waved it off as not interested.

“Tickets book ho gyi ab. Ab toh chalna padega.”

She said in a sing-song and he rolled his eyes.

“Haan haan dekhte hai.”

She grinned cheekily knowing he would never deny her.

“Vedant? Maa Vedant kaha hai? Ye uska parcel aaya hai?”

Ved asked his mother. It had been a few days since he had last seen Vanisha. But today, even Vedant was absent. He knew the two might be together wherever they were. Initially, he was jealous of the bond she shared with Vedant. But then he realised that Vedant only felt a brotherly affection for her.

“Vanisha ke saath kisi concert mai gaya hai. Der se aayega.”

“Achha. Wo puchhe toh bta dena ki uske room mai hai uska parcel.”

His mother nodded and went to keep the parcel in his brother’s room and then went back to his own.

On the other hand, Vanisha and Vedant were enjoying themselves to their fullest at the concert. The vibe was so lively. Both of them were dancing and laughing like small kids.

Vanisha’s heart fluttered everytime Vedant pulled her into himself due to the drunk people in the crowd or men trying to get touchy. He had his arms around her shoulder and did not leave her side even for one second.

Nobody was aware of the feelings she harboured for Vedant. And this was the reason that Ved’s parents were planning something.

The two were in their room. Ved’s mother, Naina came out of the washroom after changing into her nightgown and snuggled into her husband, who planted a kiss to her head.

“Suniye na! Aapko nhi lagta ki hume ab Ved ke liye ladki dhund leni chahiye. Shaadi ki age ho rhi hai uski ab.”

Her husband looked clueless and asked.

“Achha? “

“Jee! Aapko pata bhi hai kitne saal ka hone wala hai?”

She exasperated but the man continued to be clueless.

“Kitne saal ka?”

“Naman! Aap kabhi mujhe seriously nhi lete! 28 ka ho gaya hai Ved. 29 ka ho jaayega iss saal.”

Naina pouted angrily and turned herself away from him in mock anger only to be engulfed in his arms again as he hugged her from behind.

“Agar aapko seriously nhi leta toh hamari shaadi ko 31 saal aur hamara bada beta 29 ka  nhi ho rha hota.”

He flirted and she blushed. She turned to face him again and hugged him.

“Par seriously suniye na. Hume ab baat krni chahiye Ved se. Jyada der nhi krni chahiye.”

He hummed and smiled looking at her.

“Achha ye bataiye, aapko Vanisha kaisi lagti hai?”

A warm, genuine smile formed on his face. He loved the girl like his own.

“Bhut pyaari bachi hai. Jab bhi aati hai pure ghar mai raunak ho jaati hai. I wish we had a daughter like her.”

Naina looked at him with the excitement of a child and said.

“Agar uski baat chalaye Ved ke saath toh? Kitni pyaari lagegi na dono ki jodi. Dono complement krenge ek dusre ko. Aapka kya khyaal hai?”

Naman hummed. The idea wasn’t bad.

“Bhayi agar dono bacho ko koi problem nhi hogi toh mujhe toh pasand hai yeh rishta.”

“Toh phir aap kal hi Ved se baat krna. Ek baar wo haan krde, phir mai Manisha ji se bhi baat kr lungi.”

Manisha was Vanisha's mother. Naman hummed and Naina gushed about her amazing idea for a long time.

The next day, after dinner, Naman went to Ved’s room and knocked. Ved was doing his office work when he heard the knock and frowned.

“Khula hai darwaza.”

His father entered with a smile and he kept the laptop aside.

“Arre! Aapne knock kyu kia? Aa jaate aise hi.”

“Ab bache bade ho rhe hai. Achha nhi lagta aise bina knock kre aana.”

His father teased and Ved smiled.

“Papa! Seriously? Aapke liye toh hamesha aapke bache hi rhenge. Aapko knock krne ki zarurat nhi hai.”

“Arre abhi nhi hai lekin shaadi ke baad achha thodi lagega aise bahu bete ke kamre mai bina knock krne aana. Aadat daal raha hu.”

He said with a knowing smile. Ved rolled his eyes realising what was coming.
