She slowly opened the cells where the bodies were kept. She couldn't look at them. Because she was busy looking at Prakhar’s facial reaction. Waiting for him to flinch and give away any clue that she was right and he was being framed.

But not even a frown came upon his face. Avantika's breath hitched when he kept looking at the mutilated body of the victims with zero emotion on his face.

Then, without a word, he moved out leaving the three of them alone. Avantika immediately closed the cell and ran out of the morgue closing the door behind her.

“Avantika! Avantika stop! What's wrong?”

Aastha asked catching up to her while Khushal secured the lock of the morgue.

“You didn't see his face while he was looking at those bodies. Mam, I've seen a lot of bodies and done a lot of autopsies lekin ye case dekhkar mai bhi ek baar flinch kri thi. But this man! He had zero emotions. As if…”

“As if he'd done that to those girls.”

Khushal completed for her and Avantika nodded slowly. She hated to accept it. When she talked to her father about Prakhar, he'd spent the entire day just praising the man. And she couldn't imagine him as a killer after that.

But it could be true. After his reaction, she didn't know what to believe.

“What are we waiting for?”

All of them flinched hard hearing Prakhar's voice. They turned to see him near the lift lobby.

“Let's do downstairs.”

They nodded and followed him, keeping a stern eye on him.

They reached the main office and all three of them looked at Prakhar observing his movements while he looked deep in thought.

He suddenly got up making Avantika startle and announced.

“I have to be somewhere.”

And then left without a word. Khushal immediately dispatched two men behind him to keep an eye on each movement of his.

“Make sure you don't lose him for even a second. And I want an update of every activity.”

The men nodded and rushed behind Prakhar. The three of them now waited for some update or clue.

About half an hour later, Khushal's phone rang and he picked it up with the speed of lightning. He put it on speaker and Avantika and Aastha leaned in to listen.

“Vishal!”

“Sir! He's in his car. Talking to some man.”

“What kind of man?”

“Koi gunda lag raha hai sir. The man just left sir. He's driving now.”

“Gunda? Why's he meeting a gunda?”

Aastha asked and Khushal frowned.

“We don't know. It could be a source or even a partner in crime.”

Khushal disconnected the call. Not even 10 minutes later, his phone rang again.

“He's entered his house sir.”

“House?”

Khushal asked confused looking at Aastha ans Avantika.

“Yes sir. We're right outside his place. I'll let you know when he leaves the place.”

“Hmm. Good job Vishal! Keep an eye.”

The call was disconnected again. Four hours later, Khushal was informed that Prakhar had left his home and was driving somewhere.

Turned out he was coming towards the office itself.

“Any update sir?”

Avantika asked knowingly. Prakhar looked at her and said.

“Hopefully there'll be one soon.”

She nodded grimly.

“Tum log ghar jaa skte ho. We don't have much work left as of now.”

Khushal said, looking at Aastha and Avantika. The two nodded. Avantika took her stuff and started walking outside.

“Need a ride?”

Prakhar asked and Avantik quickly shook her head.

“I…um…I have my car.”

“Great! See you tomorrow.”

She nodded and waited for the lift when one of their officers came running.

“Sir! There's been another murder!”

All three of them froze and then looked at Prakhar who looked at the man with a grim expression.

“Let's go!”

Prakhar said and they all rushed down to their respective cars. Avantika called her forensic team to reach the crime scene. Her heart thudded and she followed the car in front of her.

The car that was driven by the prime suspect. The car that was driven by the person who might have just committed another gruesome murder.

They reached the crime scene and an eerie silence followed. All of them got to work. Avantika from time to time gazed at Prakhar. He was either scrutinizing the crime scene or talking to the neighbours and other people around.

She then looked at the victim's parents. The two sat at one corner. Their tears completely dried on their faces. They seemed to be in shock. She couldn't even imagine the pain they must be experiencing.

All of them returned to the office. Avantika performed the autopsy on the victim and tried not to fall weak. The killer was right beside them and they couldn't do anything about it.

When the result of the autopsy report and the other evidence collected from the crime scene came out, Avantika felt her breath leave her lungs.

She immediately ran towards Khushal and Aastha but stopped short, seeing Prakhar sitting with them.

Khushal raised his eyebrow at her and she gulped. He understood it must be regarding Prakhar and looked at the man in question.

“Avantika? Are the reports in?”

Prakhar asked and Avantika looked at him wide eyed. She had no other option and so she nodded.

“Anything relevant?”

“Ummm….the blood samples we collected belonged to the victim. No other blood or DNA collected. But we found another pair of unknown fingerprints. And they match with the ones found at the second crime scene.”

“That means it belongs to the killer. Why else would the same person be at both the crime scenes.”

Prakhar concluded. No one else said anything. He then got up making Avantika startle and take a step back in fear.

“A team is going to investigate the friends and family of the victim right? I'll join them!”

He said and left and Khushal immediately asked the officers to keep an eye.

“What is it?”

Khushal asked Avantika as soon as Prakhar left. She took a deep breath and sat in front of them.
