Nitya entered their room and started walking towards the washroom to change her clothes when she felt a grip on her wrist and was pulled back resulting in her bumping against Aarav’s chest.
She looked at him wide eyed when she saw a mischievous glint in his eyes.
“Where are you going? It's our wedding night.”
He husked and started leaning in. Nitya kept a hand on his chest and pushed lightly.
“Aarav…mai…mai taiyar nhi hu abhi. I need some time.”
He stopped and left her abruptly. His hands dropped to his sides. He patted her cheek in a baby manner.
“Let's sleep then.”
And he proceeded to the washroom to change his clothes while Nitya stood there processing what happened.
Aarav came out of the washroom and went straight to bed without bothering about her. She stared at his sleeping figure and a few tears fell from her eyes.
So he would act aloof and cold it she denied him physical intimacy? That's how her life was going to be?
It had been 3 months to Nitya and Aarav's marriage and there was no progress. And it wasn't possible either. Because Aarav was drunk each night. And she didn't like to even sit beside him when he drank so much. And Aarav never cared to communicate with her.
They just communicated occasionally when either one of them required something. Like last night when he had asked her to accompany him to a wedding of one of his friends.
They were at the venue at the moment. Aarav had ditched Nitya between unknown people to go enjoy drinks with his friends. Rest of his friends were still bachelors but he should have thought about himself being married and having a wife with him. But no! Because his drink topped everything else.
Nitya went to the washroom and when she returned, she saw a commotion near the bar area. She went closer to see what the issue was and saw her husband fighting with one of the staff.
“Saale! Samajhta kya hai apne aap ko? Zhuban ladayega? Hai kaun tu? Aukat kya hai teri?”
“Sir maine jaan bujh nhi kia na. Galti se haath lag gaya. Aur sorry bola na mai. Aap bina matlab lad rhe ho.”
The man said politely but her husband was completely out of his senses and started hitting the man. Nitya's eyes widened and she stepped before him.
“Aarav! Stop! Stop it!”
She tried to hold his arm. He looked at her with bloodshot eyes and then pushed her away. She would have fallen down if not for the table behind her. Her elbow hit the edge and it started bleeding.
She looked around and saw everyone giving her pitying looks and she looked down feeling tears in her eyes.
She didn't bother anymore and walked out of the venue. She wiped her tears and opened her phone to book a cab for her mother's place. She wouldn't stay with him.
Her vision blurred because of the tears but she somehow booked a cab. She waited for the ride to arrive and cried silently at her fate.
On the other hand, the fight between Aarav and the man was stopped when the manager was called and intervened. Aarav looked around for his wife and frowned when he didn't see her.
He called her but she didn't pick up. He asked people if anyone had seen her and one of them said that she went outside.
Aarav rushed outside only to see her sitting inside a cab and leaving.
“Nitya! Nitya ruko! Hey wait! Where are you going? Nitya?”
He yelled behind the car but she was gone. He dialled her number continuously while rushing towards his car.
Getting irritated with her phone ringing continuously, Nitya picked it up but she didn't say anything.
“Kaha jaa rhi ho?”
“Mumma ke paas.”
She answered and disconnected the call. Aarav sighed in relief and sat in his car to drive to his home.
His mother was awake and waiting for them to arrive to open the door. She frowned seeing him arrive alone.
“Nitya kaha hai?”
“Apni mummy ke ghar gyi hai.”
“Kya? Kyu? Wo bhi itni der raat ko? Sab thik hai na waha?”
“I don't know.”
“Don't know matlab? Biwi hai tumhari. Tu chhod kr aaya hai na, puchha nhi usse?”
“Maine nhi chhoda. Cab lekar gyi hai akele.”
Her mother looked at him shocked.
“And you didn't even make sure that she has reached her place safe. Kaisa husband hai tu Aarav? Jaa abhi ke abhi and make sure everything is alright. Koi baat ho toh call kr lena hume. Go!”
Aarav sighed in exhaustion and went back to his car knowing he couldn't argue with his mother.
Nitya, on the other hand, reached her mother's home and rang the doorbell. Her mother opened it after a few minutes and looked at her surprised. She was in her nightgown and had very obviously already slept.
“Nitya? Andar aa! Tu itni raat ko yaha? Kya hua?”
She didn't say anything and just walked inside the house aimlessly. She sat on the couch and by the time her father had also come out because her mother called for him.
“Nitya beta? Kya baat hai? Itni raat ko yaha kaise? Sab thik hai na waha?”
She didn't say anything. She couldn't. It seemed like she had lost her voice.
Her mother got worried seeing her condition. She was all dressed up but still looked so disoriented.
They kept asking her what had happened but she couldn't get a word out of her mouth. Her mother hugged her and caressed her back and Nitya started shivering due to the pain inside her.
In the next few moments, she was crying and telling her mother what happened. About Aarav's behaviour in the party. And about how he never cared about her.
“Itni si baat ko lekar tum yaha aa gyi ho? Insaan hai wo…gussa aa jaata hai insaan ko.”
Her father said and she looked at him with angry eyes. The pot of her patience had broken and she was going to unleash. Unknown to the three of them, Aarav had arrived at the very moment.
Her mother had mistakenly left the main door open when Nitya arrived. But before he could take a step in, he heard Nitya's voice.
