Rashit woke up with a start. His body was covered in cold sweat and he sat on the bed to shake the remnants of the memories from his brain.

But he could not. Those weren't just simple memories. Those were the memories that haunted him each night. His brutal and terrible past.

It had been 9 years since that incident. 9 years since he lost his parents. 9 years since he'd seen them get murdered in front of his eyes. 9 years since he's been having these nightmares and 9 years since he's had a peaceful sleep.

He still remembers the day as if it were just yesterday. Sometimes he wished he could forget everything but it was impossible. He closed his eyes remembering the dreadful day.

Rashit was home with his parents one usual evening. His mother was in the kitchen and he was involved in a political discussion with his father.

They were a middle class family and Rashit had just completed his first year final exams.

They heard the doorbell ring but the father-son duo didn't get up knowing their mother/wife was outside only.

It was only when they heard her scream that they got up from their places. Rashit was about to rush out but his father stopped him.

“Yahi reh. Mai dekh raha hu.”

“Papa-”

“Rashit! Mai hoon na. Kamre se bahar nhi aana.”

“Lekin papa-”

“Chahe kuch bhi ho jaaye room se bahar nhi aana Rashit. Promise me.”

Rashit nodded half heartedly although his heart was beating wildly. His father switched off the lights leaving him in darkness to make the intruders believe that it was only him and his mother home.

Rashit peeked through the small glass window beside the door. A group of 5 men, all armed, were gathered in their living room. One of them had her mother's hair in a clutch holding her in place while the other slapped her face and asked in a menacing tone.

“Kis kis ko bheji wo video. Kiske liye kaam krte ho tum?”

“Hum nhi jaante aap kya keh rhe hai. Kaun hai aap log? Please chhodiye hume.”

His mother pleaded and his father joined her.

“Leave my wife! Yeh kya badtameezi hai!”

Rashit was surprised to see his father's bravery. All of them were armed but his father pulled her mother out of the men's grasp and hugged her tightly while rubbing her back.

“Pakdo dono ko aur phone check kro inke!”

One of the men, who seemed like the commander of the rest of them, ordered. The remaining men held his parents and hit them with the barrels of their guns to shut them.

His parents' phones were snatched and the boss went through it only to have his mood turn furious.

“Kuch nhi jaante? Toh phir ye kya hai? Jasoos ho? Kiske liye kaam kr rhe ho apne aap bata do! Aur ye video kis kis ko bheja hai?”

He asked, shoving the phone in front of his father.

“Ye-ye video meri wife ka hai. Hum bahar ghumne gaye the aur maine ye video liya tha memories ke liye.”

His father said but the man slapped him hard making Rashit clutched his fists.

“Biwi ki video ke bahane jo peeche hamara video nikala hai wo? Bhut dekhe hai tere jaise jasoos. Aur jaanta hai aise logo ke saath mai kya karta hu?”

He asked in a sickeningly low voice but before anyone could comprehend anything, he picked up his gun and shot his mother. Right between her eyes.

He stumbled backwards due to the scene. Tears fell from his eyes as he saw his mother's now limp body fall back on the floor. His father let out a gut wrenching scream and sobbed seeing his wife dead.

Rashit fell back on the floor due to shock as another shot rang out and his father's voice too got silenced. He didn't get courage to come out of his room until he heard loud bangs on his room door.

“Rashit! Beta andar ho kya?”

It was his neighbours. The murderers of his parents were long gone. But he would never forget their faces. Not until he takes his revenge.

And that's how he entered the world of mafias, blood and deaths. He met Shaurya who trained him and helped him find his parents' murderers in return of Rashit pledging his loyalty to him.

It had been 5 years since Rashit had taken his revenge but the nightmares still haunt him. He opened his wallet to look at the only face which could calm him down in distress.

A smile formed on his face seeing his first and only love. His Anika. The reason he's still alive after taking his parents' revenge.

After his parents' death, he had secluded himself from the outer world which made him lose contact with her too. And now he didn't know where she was. How she was or anything about her. He just knew he loved her immensely and would give anything to see her and meet her again.

He tried contacting her after he had taken his revenge. But obviously her contact details were different. Although he knew where she was. She completed her graduation from a medical college in Mumbai. From thereforth, he lost her details.

It wasn't difficult to find her whereabouts even now. He just has to ask Shaurya to find it for him but he did not want to involve Shaurya in it. If she was in his destiny, they would meet again.

Closing his wallet back, he got up and went to freshen up.

Rashit saw Ruhanika sitting on the breakfast table already. (For people who don't know who Ruhanika is please read the connecting story)

She smiled at him in greeting which he reciprocated with a wide smile.

“Good morning.”

They greeted each other and Rashit took his seat .

“Wow! Juice!”

He exclaimed. It was very rare to see freshly extracted juice when everyone here had only tea or coffee with their breakfast.

“Yup! Maine nikala for Shaurya.”

“Can I have some?”

He asked bringing his hand forward to pour some for himself when he received a smack on the back of his hand.
