"But mai toh hostel mai rakhungi na kal shaadi ke baad se."
He frowned. Hostel?
"How old are you?"
"I'll turn 20 in a few months."
He looked at her in surprise.
"You're not even 20."
"Yet."
She added and he looked away thinking something.
"You're too young."
He whispered in a daze and she frowned.
"Too young from whom?"
He looked at her realising what he was speaking and thinking and quickly covered up.
"From bhabhi."
Naisha smiled and nodded.
"We have a 6 years age gap."
Neel nodded trying to smile and quickly rushed to his room after wishing her a good night.
"What the fuck! Why am I thinking about her like that? I don't even know her name for fuck's sake."
He groaned raking his fingers through his hair in frustration.
He had hated women and commitment after he got to know their so called mother had done to their father. He and his brother, both have sworned off women. Both emotionally and physically.
Why did he feel that odd pinch when he saw her cry? Why did he want to gather her in his arms and hide her from every harm that came her way? Why was their age gap bothering him? How does it matter what age gap they had? Nothing would happen between them.
Naisha was too excited the next morning and woke Aisha up with the same excitement.
"Aaj aapki shaadi hai di!"
She exclaimed and Aisha smiled seeing her sister's happiness. Atleast someone was happy with the marriage.
Naisha's eyes teared up seeing her sister all dolled up as a bride. Her jiju had managed to get a replica of their mother's jewellery which her drunkard uncle gambled off.
Both of them signed the marriage papers before the registrar. Neel signed as a witness from Akshant's side. And Naisha did from Aisha's.
She saw his name when signing hers.
Neel.
Why was she calling his name in her mind? But he was so sweet last night. The way he sat and heard her. The way he assured her.
Neel too saw her name when she was signing and smiled.
Naisha. Nice name. The hell! Snap out Neel!
He scolded himself mentally. Then he remembered her saying that she was going to stay in a hostel from now on. Why did he want to stop her and make her stay here? He was surely losing his mind.
He'd just met her yesterday and got to know her name a few minutes back but she was on his mind the whole night.
After the papers were signed and stamped and the registrar left, her jiju asked her di to get ready for the conference they had announcing their marriage.
"Lekin pehle photos!"
Naisha beamed and Aisha smiled holding her hands. They clicked a lot of pictures and her di and jiju finally went to get ready for the conference.
"Mere saath photo nhi kichwayi tumne."
Naisha teased Neel who was doing something on his phone. Probably arranging for the conference.
He smiled mischievously and pocketed his phone.
"You want to click a photo with me? Why?"
"Yaadgaar. Hostel mai sabki pictures dekh kr soch lungi ki sab saath hai."
She pouted and he looked away feeling a pinch when she mentioned her leaving.
He felt a tug on his shirt and saw her holding it like a child.
"Kaha kho gye? Aao na!"
He saw that she had set her phone on the table. They sat in front of the camera angling both of their bodies to adjust on the screen.
Naisha showed the gesture to start the timer and they smiled wide. Before the camera could click, shw turned and bit his shoulder and the picture was snapped with her biting his shoulder and him looking at her in shock.
She showed the gesture again and this time it had him laughing loudly because of her act and her giggling.
The third was finally a normal one.
"Cute!"
She muttered looking at the pictures and saved them to her drive.
"Ab kahi nhi jaayegi."
"Mujhe bhi bhej dena."
He said with a smile looking at her excited face. She nodded and he dictated his number. She forwarded the pictures to him.
"Naisha? Aise hi jaaogi?"
She heard her jiju's voice. He had changed into a business suit. Naisha looked at her outfit. She was wearing an embroidered sharara.
"Nhi nhi. Bas jaa hi rhi thi change krne."
She said sheepishly and ran inside the room where her di was getting ready.
It was finally time for Naisha to leave. Her bags were being loaded in the car and she was too sad.
"Di! Ek baar phir soch lo. Reh paaogi mere bina?"
She asked, hoping to change her sister's mind when they got off in front of her hostel.
"Naisha! Hamari baat ho chuki hai na. Aur phir mai aati rahungi na milne. Tu apni padhai pr dhyan de. Aur jyada uchhalkud nhi krna. Kisi se bina matlab jhagadna mat. Apna dhyan rakhna."
Aisha said and kissed her forehead. She hugged her tightly and Naisha cried in her di's arms. She would miss her a lot.
Naisha had finally adjusted in her hostel. She had a single room all to herself. Single occupancy rooms were higher in price and she understood it must her her jiju who did this.
He was so nice. She liked him. And she liked his brother too. Atleast in the beginning she did.
But then seeing him with a different woman in every other event made her crush go away. He was a playboy. And she didn't like such men. Was he so sweet to her because he wanted the same from her? Was that why he said that she was too young?
She knew she was judging him too quickly without knowing anything but her growing crush made her frustrated. And the fact that she couldn't even meet him.
It had been three months since she came here. She had just started mingling with the students in the hostel when she received her sister's call.
"Aapne toh kaha tha mahine mai do baar milne aaungi. Pehle mahine aai sirf wo bhi ek baar. Bhul gyi na aap mujhe?"
She complained as soon as she picked up the call. She heard her sister chuckle.
"Naishu!"
There was something in her sister's voice. It sounded hoarse as if she cried but there was a happy tone to it too.
"Di? Sab thik hai na?"
"Sab thik hai. Ek cheez batani thi. Tu...tu mausi banne wali hai. I'm pregnant Naisha."
Naisha was sure her squeal was heard in every room on their floor.
"Di! I'm so happy! I'll be the best mausi. Oh God! I just want to see your baby soon. Aur mai kuch nhi sunn rhi ab. Mai aa rhi hu aapse milne jaldi."
She giggled making Aisha laugh.
"Haan haan. Aa jaaio. Lekin weekend pr. Abhi padhai."
"Kya yaar di!"
She whined and talked to her about random things.
