"What?"
He asked but she pushed him aside and entered in only to stop short seeing his sofa occupied too.
"Do you have an extra mattress?"
She asked and he raised his eyebrow but shook his head.
"Jitni thi maine de di thi tumhe."
"Koi thick blanket bhi chalega. Kuch bhi jo zameen mai bicha saku."
"Whom do you need it for?"
"Myself."
He got quiet and looked at her before mumbling something.
"Huh?"
"I said you can take my bed."
"And what about you? Tum kaha jaaoge?"
"Obviously I'll sleep in my bed."
He said as if it was the most obvious thing and her eyes widened.
"You're asking me to share a bed with you?"
"I mean-if you want-"
"Oh no! No, no, no, no, no! Mai samajh gyi. You were just pretending to hate me all along so that I don't doubt your intentions while all you've wanted to do all this while was sleep with me -"
"Get out of my house."
He cut her dialogue off and she sealed her lips.
"I'll get you a blanket. Find a corner for yourself -"
"Nhi! I'm fine!"
She said and quickly walked inside his bedroom. She was too tired and the prospect of a bed looked really tempting.
"Which side do you sleep on?"
She asked and he pointed towards the left side. She smiled too sweetly and took her place on the left side.
"Hey! I said the left side!"
"I also sleep on the left. Ek din ki baat hai. Itna toh adjust kr hi skte ho na?"
She asked batting her eyelashes and he narrowed his eyes at her.
"I'm too tired to fight with you right now warna I would have tossed you aside."
She chuckled when he slumped on the other side. In no time, the two were off into a peaceful slumber.
The next morning, Anubhav was woken up with the ringing of his alarm. He groaned and turned it off while sighing with his eyes closed.
He felt a weight on his arm and opened his eyes to see Tamanna curled up beside him using his shoulder as a pillow. Her arm was around his stomach but what surprised him was how he was holding her securely.
He continued to look at her wide eyed. Why did she look so peaceful while sleeping? Tamanna stirred and peeked her eyes open to see herself cuddled up to Anubhav.
She gasped and immediately moved away from him. Both of them sat there awkwardly.
"I'll go freshen up!"
Tamanna mumbled and ran back to her apartment. Thankfully the washroom was empty because most of the people were still sleeping. She immediately rushed to the washroom and took a deep breath.
"Wake up Tamanna! That guy hates your guts! Snap out of it."
She explained herself and moved out. She started waking everyone up. Both of theirs kitchens were hijacked for breakfast and tea.
Paranthas and sandwiches with tea and coffee were made and everyone started freshening up one by one.
Tamanna was waiting for her turn with the rest of the members. Anubhav too was seated there. Two of the members of their team were smirking looking at them and then at each other.
"What happened?"
Anubhav asked looking at them suspiciously.
"Nothing! We were just wondering. Did you sleep well Tamanna?"
Tamanna looked surprised and a red hue covered her cheeks remembering how she woke up.
"You guys are guests here. Ye cheez mujhe puchhni chahiye."
She said with a chuckle not looking at Anubhav.
"We toh slept well, lekin best neend toh tumhe aai hogi na. You had the best pillow in the world."
Her eyes widened and Anubhav choked on his own spit.
"I-I-what!"
She stuttered and the two burst out laughing. Did they see her cuddled up to Anubhav? Oh God! That would be too embarrassing. Thankfully she was saved from any further embarrassment by her phone ringing. It was Sinha sir.
"It's Sir's call."
She said and picked up the call. Anubhav, on the other hand, was looking for a way to save himself from the teasing eyes of the two men who were wiggling their eyebrows at him.
He too was saved when Tamanna came back and spoke.
"Guys! Buckle up! Sir ka call aaya tha. The clients contacted him for a meeting in 3 weeks. We have to submit a report by meeting them face to face."
And with that, everyone rushed to begin their work. Anubhav sighed in relief and looked at Tamanna who avoided eye contact.
Thankfully, the two didn't have to encounter each other much again. Not until their meeting with the client three weeks later in Paris.
Tamanna had just reached the airport. She was looking around for Anubhav when she saw him entering the airport dragging his suitcase with one hand while holding his phone over his ear from the other.
He was in casuals. Jeans and t-shirt. And she had no clue why she was noticing the way his muscles bulged in that tshirt each time he moved his hand.
"Yes sir! She's here. Yes sir. Ummhmm!"
Tamanna realised he was talking to Sinha sir. Hr must have said something unexpected because Anubhav's slightly surprised eyes met hers and she narrowed her eyes in confusion and question.
"Yes sir. Not a problem. No sir. We'll manage. Ok sir."
He disconnected the call and she raised her eyebrow.
"We're supposed to meet the clients early morning tomorrow. On breakfast."
"Why did you look surprised?"
She asked and he looked away acting nonchalant while pocketing his phone.
"He's asked Kritika to book a presidency suite for us. So we'll be in the same suite. Different rooms though."
He said and she gulped. It's a matter of a few days. She could manage. Their return flight was on 25th. It was 23rd today.
By the time they reached Paris Airport, it was night time. Both of them were too tired and booked a cab straight to their hotel. They checked in and retired to their rooms with a brief good night.
